New Interest Stack
Interest StacksAnime can be more than the same one trick pony we see time and time again... A medium for varied and complex approaches to storytelling. This is the kind of stuff you'll want to show to your older relatives or a friend / significant other who isn't into anime in particular but is open to new experiences. Not necessarily to hook them on anime but simply to share a good time together. This is an early list that I made and quite frankly it's a mess, I decided to make a more comprehensive thematic series, check them out: The parameters for this list are as follows: Art house, in relation to cinema, is a genre of films that are intended to be serious artistic works rather than merely popular entertainment but the descriptor can also be applied to anime. Furthermore, avant-garde refers to innovative, experimental, radical or unorthodox concepts and techniques. This can of course also be used in reference to anime and manga. List of anime with attractive aesthetics and story for young and old. They stand out for having a western or remarkable visual aesthetic from the rest. Featuring little to no dialogue and/or characters and the experience is carried by the music and/or visual atmosphere. Do you want to watch anime so artsy that will either relate to the deepest part of your soul or completely confuse you? Masaaki Yuasa is known for his crazy, experimental anime. I personally am a fan and as such I decided to compile them together in one place. I decided to only include the stuff he directed so nothing of the shows he animated and storyboards only. varying levels of surreal imagery, fluid animation, mixed media, unusual aesthetics, or just plain avant garde This is a collection of anime that I think is important/useful, or just awe inspiring in terms of its animation. If you are looking to study animation or even just want to appreciate the craft, this stack is for you. Masaaki Yuasa is a very experimental and often surreal creator and a personal favourite. I put together a list of anime he directed. GKIDS is an American film distributor based in New York with, according to the Los Angeles Times, a focus on "sophisticated, indie" animation. GKIDS releases critically acclaimed mostly hand-drawn, international films—such as the works of the independent Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli—to North American audiences. GKIDS also distributes computer animated and stop-motion films in addition to hand-drawn ones, as well as American films by independent filmmakers. The name is said to be an acronym for "Guerrilla Kids International Distribution Syndicate". As the title says, I created a stack called "Avant Garde and the Weirdest Box", and some weird Anime was not listed in it, so they will be listed here. Of course, there will also be Avant Garde anime that are not popular or not known by many people. This is a compilation of Avante-Garde shorts that are unique, mind-blowing and addicting. These will give you a different POV on the world of animation. |
