Synopsis

The Great War finally came to an end after four long years of conflict; fractured in two, the continent of Telesis slowly began to flourish once again. Caught up in the bloodshed was Violet Evergarden, a young girl raised for the sole purpose of decimating enemy lines. Hospitalized and maimed in a bloody skirmish during the War's final leg, she was left with only words from the person she held dearest, but with no understanding of their meaning.

Recovering from her wounds, Violet starts a new life working at CH Postal Services after a falling out with her new intended guardian family. There, she witnesses by pure chance the work of an "Auto Memory Doll," amanuenses that transcribe people's thoughts and feelings into words on paper. Moved by the notion, Violet begins work as an Auto Memory Doll, a trade that will take her on an adventure, one that will reshape the lives of her clients and hopefully lead to self-discovery.

Violet Evergarden is a show that's lingered in my mind long after the credits rolled. It's one of those rare gems that manages to be both visually stunning and emotionally profound.

The story follows Violet Evergarden, a former child soldier who's trying to understand the meaning of the words "I love you." She becomes an "Auto Memory Doll," a writer who puts people's feelings into words. Each episode is a self-contained story, focusing on a different client and their unique emotions.

What makes this show so special is its ability to delve into the depths of human emotion. It tackles themes of love, loss, grief, and the ...

Violet Evergarden is one of KyoAni’s most critically acclaimed series ever. It’s a show that represents harsh truths told to people who aren’t aware of what’s happening (or what happened) until now. It’s been loved for its drama and storytelling. While I completely understand the hype revolving around it, I personally cannot say the same as others did. Aside from the admittedly amazing art and sound, I just can’t bring myself to resonate with or like what the show offered in practice.

Before we dive into my personal problems with the series, I’ll first explain what Violet Evergarden is about. Violet Evergarden is an episodic story ...

I thought it would be impossible to ruin something that looks so perfect.
with this animation quality, those perfect character designs, the details like how could they fuck up the plot so bad that it's almost unwatchable like actually what an achievement! I was shocked when I first watched those half-baked side character quests that often don't even feel like a real series more like an episodical thing - but one that's not funny or creative enough to justify the format.
it's like the series can't even decide what the viewer is supposed to be invested in. maybe the main character? no she gets sidelined for random ...
