Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara

The Autumn Selection tournament arc is abounding in JoJo references, and executes them to great effect. It could be subtle, such as when a character anticipates his opponents' next move as menacingly as a JoJo villain would. Or, it could be as blatantly obvious as opposing dishes manifesting as Stands to "Ora-Ora" it out, just as Star Platinum would against an enemy stand. In addition, there's a lot of third-party exposition-dumps occurring from the sidelines and opponents explaining themselves in both series. In my opinion, Food Wars does this a little better than JoJo, because it makes me appreciate the science behind cooking a lot more (plus there is no physical combat that would otherwise be interrupted). However, I do appreciate how JoJo uses fight-commentary to add to its over-the-top nature. Both the Stand Battles and Shokugeki feel epic and high-stakes in their respective series, so if you like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, you will also like Food Wars. read more 

Both anime show the protogonist aiming for the top , same goes for protagonist's rivals. But one has the super power based plot while other's based on the culinary discipline. 

Both have the same food based theme, but Shokugeki no Souma was more like the main character competing to be on top, while Dagashi Kashi was more like the main character trying to keep the other main character from pursuing his desire to be a mangaka. Also, both have an almost documentary like of presentation, which we the audience would learn from it.  

Both have the same plot were the main theme is all about food competition, and the main characters have what it takes to make it on top. The difference however was Yakitate Japan is more on pastries...more like pattern after the great Bake Off while Shokugeki No Souma was pattern after Master Chef. Still both have the same level of exaggeration, where both shows the judge having an orgasmic experience after eating the main character's preparation.  

Both have a tournament episodes and every fight consist of cliff hangers. Excitement is above the ceilings and winners are very unpredictable. While both anime is very different in terms of "fighting" one another, both anime is very fun to watch. If you enjoyed Boku no Hero Academia, Shokugeki no Souma is your next series to watch. 

Both anime have "food wars". In ben-to, people fight to get the food, in shokugeki no souma, people fight making the food, in the end, you'll be starving!
