As well as being CGI the MC are both underestimated in the beginning while Bubuki starts off slow it gets to the point where you can't help but be invested the characters are interesting and while both show involve mechs Bubuki has mech made from special weapons the characters use each character has their own way of doing things but always end up working together while also dealing with their pasts.

They have the same same style of action, artwork, animation and humor in different types of stories.

Both stories follow a team of teenage warriors who each wield interesting weapons (Imperial arms/bubuki). Both teams fight against an oppressive and tyrannical government. Both anime have a powerful lead antagonist (Esdeath/Reoko).

both of these are anime that start off weak (as in they give low expectations), but have strong endings. they're both gems in the rough in which the corresponding score is most likely due to people dropping from watching the first couple of episodes. while otherwise these anime are completely disimilar, they're anime that reward the viewer at the end with definitive development. for punchline, it's radical development plotwise; for bubuki buranki it's development via characters both protagonists and antagonists.

Both series involve kids with special powers using semi-sentient inanimate objects as weapons, with a prodigal son-type MC. Both series draw on the Shinto concept of animistic spirituality, or Kami, and there are some superficial similarities in the designs (the eyes) of the kakashi (dolls) and the bubuki.
