From ordinary office workers to traveling peddlers to superheroes, adult protagonists can have a variety of life experiences and many different ways of living. Young emerging adults may still be trying to find their path in life, while established older folks are more likely to have mastered the art of adulting - or at least learned enough to muddle by. Some adults become jaded over time from repeated exposure to the reality that life is often painful, depressing, and unfair. Others retain a more positive outlook by focusing on their dreams for the future or take a more pragmatic approach by putting all their efforts into improving their lives here and now.

A selection of 21st-century anime based on source material that pre-dates it by at least twenty years. This includes old-school manga, novels, and video games. Great for those who love retro media ad enjoy seeing classic content dusted off and revived for a new generation of fans to enjoy.

This is obviously a hard thing to know without checking, so my knowledge on what anime would be here is very limited. so if you know of more stuff, please do tell.

Oh and note that I will only be adding shows that are rated by at least 5k users. Why? Because MAL's score system is weird and lessens the score value of less popular shows.

Which goes for every show, but for super unpopular ones the effect is HUGE. so most of the time, their score rise is purely because more people watched the anime, and not because it aged well. Which is why It wouldn't make sense to put them in this stack.

This list is intended for those that have fallen off newer anime or are looking for more modern recommendations. I think each of these will be regarded as a classic in the future by avid anime watchers.

It includes shows that have had their first season start airing in 2010 or later.

It includes extremely serious nerve wrecking stories to absolutely light hearted fun ones.

Great shows that disserve more attention.

Fun to watch because protagonist got talent in what they do!

Personally I think Gundam is pinnacle of mecha anime but since a big chunk of the series
is interconnected, I only included gundam series which are watchable as a standalone
