Very similiar animation style. I only watched the raw version of Dragon's Heaven so it's hard to compare stories, but the mechanical design is so similiar and I feel if you like one, you should like the other. Hell, they are both only about an hour long so it's well worth the time to check them both out.

While not the best works of the mecha genre, Detonator Orgun and Dragon's Heaven offer an outlook that deviates from the usual mecha show. Obscure OVAs, yes, yet they are worth the look.

One-off 80s OVAs with beautiful fluid animation, mecha action, cute girls, and great art. Their settings are very different tho, Dragon's Heaven is post-apocalyptic and Leda is set in a fantasy world

Short, alternate interpretations of the future, focusing on a more apocalyptic future for humanity plagued with strange, alien-like creatures and enemies

Remember how the games were heavily inspired by Moebius' Arzach? And Moebius even drew the cover art for the game? And then the anime ended up looking nothing like it? Well, Dragon's Heaven actually looks like Moebius and it's quite fun for a 20 min mech anime.

If you like anime inspired by Moebius art, you should check out both. Nausicaä is definitely the better one, but for a 20 minutes OVA, Dragon's Heaven ain't bad. And nobody is going to make a mecha anime with that art style anytime soon.

In both shows the main character finds and befriends a robot and they have adventures in a post-apocalyptic desert setting.
