Hundred

When an extraterrestrial organism known as "Savage" attacks mankind, the only technology capable of combating the enemy is a weapon known as “Hundred.” A survivor of a Savage attack, Hayato Kisaragi is a teenager boasting the highest compatibility level with the aforementioned technology and as a result, is invited to master his skills at Little Garden, a prestigious military academy aboard a battleship.

Over the course of his intense training for the battle ahead, he immediately attracts the interest of multiple female peers and gets drawn into a number of incidents as he tries to fight against the creatures that now inhabit Earth and threaten its safety.

Note to self:
Contains good character designs. Good fan service, mostly through the costumes.
Characters don't get a lot of room to grow, because there is only one season. It feels like they could have made more seasons with season one as a good starter. No real cliffhangers or impetus to continue though, aside from more fun with the crew and the occasional jiggle service.
The cast is likable enough, but doesn't rise much above their stereotypes.

The short of it:
Jiggles with guns on a boat!

Watch again? No need to see the show again, but was nice to see at least once.

Mixed Feelings

Hundred doesn't feel like an original show. It feels like it takes the formula of Infinite Stratos and them changes it up to make it seem like it's an original project. But, it's really just Infinite Stratos. If you like that, you'll like this show. If not, it might be a hard show to watch.

Story:
The story doesn't really stand out. It's mainly a harem story that happens to include mecha action with a post-apocalyptic type storyline. The issue is that it doesn't really attempt to dive deep into this past apocalypse much. It just feels like a simple plot device to explain the new ... technology. They also didn't do a great job with explaining the world. They just named off some countries and expect you to care about them. If you want people to buy into them, you have to take the time to worldbuild.

Art:
The art was pretty good. The coloring looked good, and they used 3D imaging for the mecha action scenes, which made those scenes look crisp.

Sound:
The VA work was pretty standard for the industry. The music was forgettable though. Nothing interesting in regards to the BG, or the themes.

Character:
This show had some character issues. Not that the characters were uninteresting, but rather they did nothing with potentially interesting characters. They had characters that had good backgrounds, but then relied on anime tropes in order to fill them out instead of giving them more realistic personality traits. This show's characters fell to the classic harem character design instead of opting for more advanced character building.

Enjoyment:
I kind of liked this show. It spent much of my time hoping it would do something different, but knowing it never would. This hurt the enjoyment some, but the show was never a bad one. Just not something I would call original.

Overall:
This show was above average. It lacked in the character department, but it had an interesting premise and world that had some promise. But, like many light novel anime, it falls prey to typical story developments and anime tropes that keep it from feeling like a unique product.

This is one of them Mecha titles from recent years that were a complete disappointment, is not even original as it plays and feels so much to Infinite Stratos that seems a remake of that fiasco... with the exact same issues. The main character motivation is his sick sister that is transfer to a military hospital in exchange for him to join the ranks, thats it, so simple that is boring. The story plays like a harem without the jokes, and boy it needs some. The story is a mess on its simplicity, aliens are attacking, a special squad is deployed, the MC is OP ... when losses consciousness, and thats it mostly. There are some twists here and there, but nothing that you can't see coming, the truth is that it never gets anywhere. The only positives are the animation and design, is a colorful world, light toned, pretty decent animation for 2016, but none of this really improves the quality of the story, no matter how many oppais and butts they focus on the screen.
