Pop in Q

The story begins the day before the graduation ceremony. Five middle school girls each are preoccupied with their real everyday lives. These girls meet each other in a fantasy world after being sent there through a sudden occurrence. There, they learn about the impending crisis that this world is facing. The way to avert this crisis is for the five to collaborate and bring their five hearts together as one through dance.

However, the five cannot come to love the world, and cannot tell their true feelings to one another, so their hearts are unable to unite. The time limit is fast approaching. Can the dance of the five girls save the world? And will they be able to graduate?

I really like this story, u know what, hey, I will also graduate from my college around the end of this month,,, Hahahahaha almost as same situation as this story. I can empathize with the problem of the story so so so much. I feel like hahhh am I ready to leave this college? I think I've made various worst things during my study and IDK how to solve my issues. Somehow, this anime appeared in my feeds and somehow, I felt whoah so interesting, and yeah, here I am :"DDD. To be honest, my first impression was kinda hah the voice actor doesn't suit ... of being young schooler, BUT HEY, in the middle and last scene of the anime, you will find out the reason ;D I just wanna say this anime really helped me solved my issue that I mentioned earlier. I learned many life lessons hahaha, just be honest with myself, though only a little bit? it's really fine, developing self-love, bravery, and don't forget to have fun. Last and not least, I wasn't competing with others, but with myself instead. Most important things, this graduation will be the beginning of my-new-version-self, my future tameni ^_^

Mixed Feelings

Normally, I'm a sucker for isekai, idols, magical girls, and genre blends. Unfortunately, this failed to bring anything actually unique to any of those tables, nor did it manage to pass as any one genre. Overall, it's an entirely forgettable one-shot, with a pile of potential and not much else.

STORY: 6

The series description says it all. Which is never a good thing for an isekai. I want to be surprised! Except that I was mostly bored, or confused.

It's fun, but very little of the world is explored, and the system of magic at play is barely explained at all, making it hard ... to truly care whether it's saved or not. Add in the protagonists' easy acceptance, and the whole concept feels pointless.


ART: 7

Weirdly slow frame rates, combined 3d and 2d animation, and inconsistent quality, all lead to it looking really bad at times. At random moments, their 2d faces even look like knockoff Ojamajo Doremi for some inexplicable reason.


However, the character designs are a lot of fun, and several pay a clear homage to other shoujo series. They're well suited to both the scenes and characters involved. The mascot characters are also utterly adorable and would make super cute merchandise! Honestly, the character designs are the best part about this entire misadventure.

The backgrounds in particular are just plain weird. The alternative world looks like a fusion of a historic English country town and some randomly Tribal carvings, which is a bizarre and unlikable combination. But it is undeniably unique.



SOUND: 7

The acting and background score is decidedly average, but the surprisingly catchy pop idol songs are what really sell it. They're actually good! Being decently catchy and feeling like y2k pop radio songs, more than idol music, they definitely don't sound quite like anything I've heard previously.

CHARACTER: 5

There's so much that's hinted at that could have easily created much more unique and deep characters, but it's repeatedly brushed over to force the story forward. Their friendships feel very shallow and not particularly believable. In fact, none of them feel much like people at all, rather very cut-and-paste, equally likeable and predictable, and ultimately forgettable.

Pop in Q is nauseating and cringe-worthy, and here's why you shouldn't watch this hidden movie with a similar mindset along the lines of "Damn. Something unpopular with good quality. Must be good.".

The story is under acceptable terms. Isekai shenanigan, meet up with the homeboys, and dance to save the world. However, the characters and CGI are absolutely garbage. Specifically talking about the dolls/puppets seen within the show.

They are punchable. They are annoying. Their presence alone stimulates my evil desire to kill. Just like how a great story can carry lack of quality or how great quality can carry a mediocre story. This anime's ... specific characters pull the entirety of this shit down like a ghost appearing out of a sinkhole and pulling you in without any warning ( pay no attention to the logic )

Overall one of the biggest potential loss anime movies ever. Really deserves to be better, but the past cannot be changed anymore. I recommend this to nobody unless you don't mind the dolly puppetty kind of stuff. I do. And if you are like me, then ignore this movie. It is by all means not worth it.
