New Interest Stack
Interest StacksThis is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). Many of these known by proxy or heard about, but not that commonly actually watched beyond a few exceptions. Anime from the past millenium hides many gems that are worth watching. Here's a bunch of goodies lacking love, many of which are obscure, others just underappreciated. Almost all of them lean more towards being lighthearted, cute and silly. (Not necessarily all at once.) Lots of adventure, too! Keep in mind that they're not all "must-see", but this should still be a great source for finding something new and enjoyable. Exhausted Studio Ghibli's filmography but want more? These anime have a visual presentation evocative of your favorite Ghibli films, but aren't made by Ghibli themselves. //List of shows that (to my knowledge) have an italian dub [Please let me know of any errors] Anime that were part of every middle eastern child growing up in the 80's and 90's The bottom 50 of the top 100 anime gathered from TV Asahi's Japan-wide survey, conducted with multiple age-groups, into the best animated series. Anime that comes packaged with socio-political commentary. Sometimes as subtext or metaphor, sometimes screamed out loud with abandon. In 2012, The Asahi Shimbun announced the 104 TV anime that they considered to be the most representative and memorable of all TV anime between 1963 and 2012. It's a good starting point for exploring general TV anime history, and the shows are all worth giving a shot. The list was not ranked, and ordered by release date. Anime series and movies that Fujimoto Tatsuki (Chainsaw Man author) mentioned in the Magazine Switch. Could be taken as recommendations. They are not all obviously, I put the ones that I think are the most interesting, known for those who want to add anime to their list. Movies & Series Works related to Hayao Miyazaki's Carreer. GKIDS is an American film distributor based in New York with, according to the Los Angeles Times, a focus on "sophisticated, indie" animation. GKIDS releases critically acclaimed mostly hand-drawn, international films—such as the works of the independent Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli—to North American audiences. GKIDS also distributes computer animated and stop-motion films in addition to hand-drawn ones, as well as American films by independent filmmakers. The name is said to be an acronym for "Guerrilla Kids International Distribution Syndicate". |
