Interested in the genre? Despite what people might say, mecha is a rich character focused genre with a variety of incredibly unique stories to tell. Here's a collection of shows with short, straight-to-the-point descriptions about each. Note that some of these were translated by fans, and aren't available officially/legally. A good amount of these are available on various streaming services, tho as for all well you might have to sail the high seas a bit. Disregard my personal scores, as its subjective at end of the day and you might like it. Also please don't dismiss some of these just because they're really old, they pretty much all hold up well even today. Check each out, and see what strikes your fancy. Any shows I personally haven't watch I got info on from fellow mecha friends of mine:

These are the anime that appear in Super Robot Wars Neo for Wii.

The OVA market dried up as straight to video releases became a thing of the past, which is unfortunate because a lot of interesting and unique anime were released in this format. The point of the list is to feature worthwhile OVAs that are more than just fanservice or shoddy extras for TV series. Sigh, due to the explicit content warning feature, I've excluded Mezzo Forte, but it would be on here otherwise. I should also probably make room for Yukikaze at some point.

This is simply a full list of anime where any of the characters speak Spanish even for just a single word or phrase.
This does not include any instances where they use proper nouns or names that are in Spanish.

What is a manly anime? It may be hard to define them at first glance. Rather than a textbook definition, it's more of a specific "vibe". You can feel when you're watching one of them.

One might associate them with a specific artstyle, starring adult male characters with a muscular build and detailed facial features, and while that is definitely a common trend, it's not necessarily a requisite.

To me, a manly series is one where the characters represent the ideals of manhood. They have an unbreakable determination, they protect their loved ones and are willing to risk their own lives for what they believe in, to achieve their dreams, or for a better future. And while the majority are battle oriented, they might not even need to throw a punch to be considered manly, sometimes their strong will speaks for themselves.

These characteristics apply to many other series, but a manly anime just hits different. You look at them and think "that's what a man would do".

This is not a comprehensive list, but rather, a collection of the series I feel represent these ideals best and would recommend to those interested in this type of anime.

Eve no Jikan is labeled on MAL as an ONA, but won the OVA Category during the 2010 Tokyo Anime Award.

I'm really fascinated by the idea of adapting old stuff but changing it in ways that make this new version more interesting than just a simple retelling. I'll update the list as more anime fitting it release

Anime featuring mainly traditionally animated, hand drawn robots made between the year 2000 and 2009. As CGI started being used in anime in this period, some mecha series started shifting towards CGI robots, I think this list would be really helpful.

Note: The Big O Season 2 doesn't have its own entry on MAL, so it's being represented here by its first season, which doesn't meet the criteria, but I got no choice.

OVAs made in the 2000s and beyond that carry on the spirit of the 80s/90s OVA -- a fun, standalone story told in a short amount of time, supported by great production values.
