Anime that are so bad, you can't look away!

Anime with characters who consistently show actually autistic traits - stimming, obsession with very specific things and themes, social phobia, unwillingness to change routines, monotone or stereotyped speaking, strict habits, lack of interest in personal exchanges, difficulty building/maintaining relationships, unusual manners and gestures, selective but very strong empathy etc.

As this list becomes more and more popular (thanks everyone! Feedback appreciated!), I'm adding a friendly reminder: Autistic people are as diverse as neurotypical people are. This list could contain every character from every anime ever made and still be accurate as autistic rep! I just add the ones who "score higher" in showing more common autistic traits.

What I look for the most in an anime above everything else is high-quality writing. That's not to say that manga, visual novel, and light novel adaptations are written poorly; in fact, there are some that have incredible, masterfully-crafted storylines. I have simply personally found that some of the most unforgettable series for me have been novel adaptations.

Given that there currently exists no anime search option for this, the basis of this interest stack is to provide a list of full-length novels that have been adapted into series or movie format.

You won't need to read the manga/novel or wait for a second season.

This stack is an ultimate starter pack if you are looking for anime with genius protagonists or characters with considerably high IQ. If mind games and intelligent moments are your go-to interests, this is the perfect stack for you.

For anime with sequels, only the first seasons of each have been included in the stack. The genres include (but are not limited to) psychological, mystery, isekai, sports, and romance/drama.

Long-running shounen anime have not been included in the list, except Detective Conan (in case you are looking for Bleach or Fullmetal Alchemist - yes, this is according to Aizen's plan too).

Classic mystery whodunnits or police detectives solving cases involving murder, theft, etc. with a limited number of suspects. Mostly episodic rather than a full series with only one plot/case. Some listings with supernatural elements but only if it fits the 'detective' part of it.

Animes that contain scenes in which it is implied that one or more characters are or were involved in sexual activities without showing explicit images of the fact.

An assorted stack of anime series with some talented detectives and mind-boggling mysteries to uncover. Highly recommended for fans who love to put on a thinking cap and wrap their head around, trying to unravel secrets alongside the protagonists.

Anime elitist explores the genre of psychological horror with a li bit of advance mecha, techno combined leaving hints of philosophy and theology. (but honestly its just underrated anime with a mc being a sigma male)

These shows are all between 11 episodes and 14 episodes, with 12 episodes and 13 episodes being most common.
They all work as completed narratives that wrap things up fully.


Because there would be too many shows that fit that description and I wouldn't know of all of them, I'll just be listing my favorites out of all the shows I've finished that fit the description above.
I'll update this list when needed, as I have done already.

All of my ratings below are for the English subbed versions.

I finish watching shows in their entirety before viewing OP's and ED's.
(Although I do listen to them every episode while alt-tabbed)
