Interest Stacks   If you want to get chills, these are the best contenders for me, all of them had at least a couple of really amazing moments that made my heart actually skip a beat, ordered from the scariest to the least but all of them are very close to each other. Sankarea last because of the less serious plot than the others at times. Although I will say, the prequel episode for it was SOOO AMAZING, that I'd recommend to check it out after, that middle episode scene really took me by surprise, even thinking about it now I get goosebumps.  Series with ghosts, spirits and the paranormal.    These are some pretty good psychological anime series and movies.. Some are new and some are a little older. Enjoy!   These series and animated films take place in the countryside, forest, or other rural location.     *or yokai or spirits or anything of the sort   Each of the following are one of the most popular anime set in or heavily inspired by an associated Japanese prefecture. They are ordered from Hokkaido to Okinawa (roughly north to south).  Anime either based on, heavily influenced by or drawing key aspects from folklore. Folklore encompasses the traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community, people or culture passed down through the generations by word of mouth and later often recorded in written form.  Shows/Movies of all kinds that are either meant for or can be enjoyed by an older audience. A treasure trove of excellence covering a wide range. Story-driven thrillers, well researched historical shows, brilliant world-constructions, poetic narrations, gripping thrillers, dark comedies, complex future visions, tightly packed action, avant-garde art, solid entertainment, tear-jerking dramas to light-hearted slices of lives.    Anime series not so well known for their titles, some not necessarily underestimated, but easy to go unnoticed in the community. Anime with an intriguing, immersive, rich, or otherwise memorable atmosphere. Usually a combination of artistic, imaginative visuals, distinctive music, a slowish pace, and cryptic, emotional, and/or philosophical dialogue. Atmospheric doesn't necessarily mean good, though.  Anime aired in Spain's TV channels (public or private), listed with the Spanish title. Might be missing some or be messy: I wanted to add the most important but also the less obvious.
