Yeah...I was a Digimon kid growing up. I can't even begin to count how many times I watched and rewatched the Digimon Movie on VHS back in the day.

This guide is for all my fellow 90's kids who are looking for that sweet, sweet nostalgia, or just anyone else who is curious about the series. I've included everything in the core franchise, though I will be leaving out the odd few shorts that just don't really add anything.

So without further ado, heres the watch order for everything Digimon.

What the title says, any anime which has over 1,000 fanfics on AO3. (Note: anime with 10,000+ fics are on their own list, so if you see anything that’s super popular that's missing, that’s why) And since the tagging system on AO3 is a bit inconsistent I made a few choices:
For anime with separate tag categories for the manga and anime adaptation, I only took the fic number for the anime entry, I did not add them together. For anime and manga which have already been lumped together under one tag I used that number.

For anime with reboots where the reboot and the original got lumped together I chose the version with the most members on myanimelist to represent it (like Fruits Basket)

For franchises which have all been lumped under one tag, I chose the earliest tv series installment of the series to represent it. (for example Gundam, or Lupin III). But if an individual installment of that franchise tagged separately also reached 1,000 fics by itself it also got included. (like Gundam Wing)
Exceptions to this rule are the Fate franchise and Yugioh, because I don’t want to make another list just to squeeze those in lmao. Here are the individual installments of those which have all reached 1,000:
Fate/Grand Order
Fate/Zero
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal
Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V

And if you notice that I’ve missed anything feel free to let me know

This focuses on the original Digimon Adventure (1999) series timeline.
If you're wanting to watch the OG Digimon series, watch them in this order.

Additionally, I recommend to not watch the Digimon Adventure 02 Movies and Digimon Adventure 02: Diablomon no Gyakushuu partway through Digimon Adventure 02. These films, although being made and released during the show's run, feature spoilers for later on in the show.

One more tidbit is that Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is not currently out at the time of writing this (February 26th, 2023), so please keep that in mind.

Every anime featuring the famous line that goes ''What would you prefer first? Dinner? Bath? Or maybe... meee?'' Wording doesn't have to be exact, nor the options, but it must be clear that it is what this is referencing. Entries are in alphabetical order.

Hentai will not be included, but anything else goes. If you notice an entry is missing please feel free to contact me on MAL! Same thing if an entry doesn't belong here, I haven't personally watched all of them after all :)

Shout! Factory, LLC, trading as Shout! Studios (formerly known as Shout! Factory) is an American home video and music distributor founded in 2002 as Retropolis Entertainment. Its video releases, issued in DVD or Blu-ray format, include previously released feature films, classic and contemporary television series, animation, live music, and comedy specials. Considered a boutique Blu-ray label, Shout! Studios, in addition to its mainline home video releases, also releases films under the sublabels Scream Factory (for horror film releases), Shout! Select, and Shout! Kids.

In its anime catalog, it has interesting titles that could be seen and enjoyed by anyone, although most of them are films distributed by GKIDS.

Tropes are common denominators. Their viewers recognize them, laugh at them or groan at them, but most of us can guess where they're coming from—specifically, what cultural values are embodied in the trope.

Unfortunately, some Cliché just don't travel — or age — very well. They're fine on their home turf, where everyone understands them and knows what value system they're based on. When that trope makes the trip to another country, however, it gets seasick on the way over, arriving at port looking distinctly disheveled and finding itself among strangers who have no idea what it's talking about, It probably should not come as a surprise that there can be a fair amount of Values Dissonance when Western audiences watch anything made by Japanese people and intended for a Japanese audience.
