They are both Thives and doing magic tricks

Both anime are about a legendary thief who took upon themselves their predecessors identity. Both main characters steal valuables for different purpose (D.N..Angel: to prevent a fearfull event | Magic Kaito 1412: to learn the truth about his father death, and both have a childhood friend with them. D.N.Angel is more supernatural and shoujo since the MC can actually transform into another being and the reaction is based on romance, while Magic Kaito 1412 is more about finding the real reason for his father murder and foil the organisation plans.

-Both Light and Kaito are geniuses with crazy deductive skills while toeing the line between right and wrong (Light kills only 'bad' people and Kaito steals jewels in order to avenge someone dear) -Both also really love to outwit people and will gleefully explain how exactly they did it.

Both have the concept of "secret identity" whilst the main character still keeps up a normal everyday life and goes to school. Kaito has a more comical personality than Lelouch though!

Both Protagonists are laid back, calm and collective even when their in a pinch. Both Main characters are very intelligent and skillful at deceiving people to gain the upper hand. Both series have amazing colorful art work with not only the characters appearance but the world around them. Both series share Adventure, Comedy, Romance, ecchi, and Psychological genre components.

Very similar in some aspects, but has romance and it's old school and very very good anime to watch.

Cat and mouse chase. Both Kaito and Lupin leave their calling cards on what they are going to steal. The inspector in both series are always there. Trying to catch them every time. Both MC are very charismatic, charming, and funny too. One deals with magic and illusions. While the other just disguises and other things

Both stories unfold with professional thieves, and hunted all over the police network. Both have a certain mystery of "who is the thief? What his true face". There is also a somewhat dramatic mood compared to the girls in the series.

Although being far apart in age, Magic Kaito 1412 and Cat's Eye both tell the story of brilliant thieves, brought to crime for a noble cause, who deal constantly with the police's resistance and in particular with some policeman who is very colse to them in the daylight.

the crime/mystery storyline is also entertaining to watch

Both are set in a school (OHSHC more than MK1412), but they both have elements of comedy and romance. While MK1412 has what I call more "action", they both are extremely entertaining to watch, with awesome characters, art styles, animation, music, etc.

Both main characters are renounced as the best thieves in their own worlds and in both series, though Magic Kaito 1412 has a more detailed plot then Mouse.

Both Protagonists are very intelligent and quick witted , they both work at their best under pressure and in dangerous situations. Both lead characters are trying to work towards a goal and will do anything to see it through. Both series tackle real life struggles and dark times, however there are some great comedic scenes throughout the story. Both Narrative's have Psychological, Thriller, and adventure genre components.

The main characters are extremely similar, and the series have a similar feeling to eachother. Every time I watch an episode of one I am reminded strongly of the other.

I think this idea has been a bit overdone. KST is about a female teen who uses magic and illusions to steal items, returning them to their rightful owners. The only difference is that her best friend knows about what she does because she's a Catholic nun in training.

A more comedic in depth story of Kaito Kuroba and how he became "The Magician Under the Moonlight".
