Magic Kaito 1412

Both anime are about a boy who is a phantom thief and the main characters have simillar personalities. 

Both animes are about phantom thieves. Kaitou Joker is aimed at a younger aduience, though. 

both protagonists are phantom thieves that give advanced notices before using magic tricks to steal the treasure avoid the elaborate traps around it and to fool the police both are comedies  

Both are based on thriller phantom thief stories with a stylish cast,visuals and plot. 

If you like one Phantom Thief, why not three?? 

Both are about a phantom thief stealing things while being hunted by the police. The main characters act a little similar during the heist but their motives are a bit different. In both, however, the life as a thief runs in their family. Both shows involve romance but it's more of a subplot in Magic Kaito and plays a more important role in D.N.Angel. They have supernatural elements as well, though more so in D.N.Angel. D.N.Angel is a bit darker while Magic Kaitou tries to be more comic.  

D.N.Angel is about a infamous thief to stop mysterious events from happening Magic Kaito1412 is about an infamous thief to find about his dads death and stop a bad organization D.N.Angel more "dark" and Magic Kaito more on the fun side D.N.Angel family son gets power to turn into a thief at a certain young age hmmm maybe 13 Magic Kaito I guess if you want to be the thief Both have childhood friends that can be your girlfriend Both have police involved  

- Both animes are about a school boy, who gains an alter-ego as a phantom thief. - Both main characters have been trained in the skills necessary for their thievery by their parents and both have a love triangle going on between the main, a girl he likes and his alter-ego (with the girl being completely ignorant of the main and the thief being one and the same, of course.) - These two series share a very similar atmosphere. That's why I think it's safe to say that, if you enjoyed one, you're likely to enjoy the other. 

Both are phantom thief related stories with family history of phantom thievery as well as daring action in it as well too. 

Light Yagami (Death Note) is a criminal while Saguru Hakuba (Magic Kaito 1412) is a detective. They share the same Japanese voice actor. L Lawliet (Death Note) is a detective while Kaito Kuroba/Kaito Kid (Magic Kaito 1412) is a criminal. They share the same Japanese voice actor. Victory usually belongs to both criminals 

In terms of the main protaganists (Kaito and Lelouch): -Both are highly intelligent high-school students, great at planning and strategy -Both end up taking on a secret identity that becomes famous and well-known throughout the world -Both must keep their other identities secret or risk consequences. -Both deal with the drama of their school lives as well -Both of them are a ladies' man, many girls within the series grow a crush on them. -Both are highly skilled at almost whatever they do. -Both are trying to gain justice for someone/something (for Kaito, his father, for Lelouch, him, his sister, etc.) -Both are a part of a world that has some kind of supernatural/unnatural elemtns (sorcery and magic/mecha)  read more

Both shows follow gentlemen thieves (Lupin in Lupin III and Kaitou Kid in Magic Kaito) and their adventures in stealing world's greatest treasures while constantly being chased by the detectives whose main goals are to catch these two. These shows have the similar atmosphere and unique characters that are ready to use all the tricks they have up their sleeve to get away with the theft and outwit the police.
