After watching just about all of the OVAs released in the 1980s, these are the ones I rated 6, meaning I consider them to be decent.

The new anime release format that appeared in the mid-80s brought new opportunities for studios and various works began to be released on videotapes. Some of them were frankly terrible, but some became classics with a recognizable style and aesthetics. I bring to your attention works worth viewing.

Includes very good anime that are older than 2010 and has less than 30k completed. Hidden gems.

I am attempting to curate the definitive catalog of THE most 𝓐𝓔𝓢𝓣𝓗𝓔𝓣𝓘𝓒 anime, found exclusively between the 80s and 90s!

Many millennials, Gen Z, or younger experience a 'longing' (often known as "anemoia") for the pre-internet world, when VHS tapes enveloped film in a comforting saturation, when stereos emitted synthpop, and when the warm sun caused the rippling seas to glisten just that much more.

This Interest Stack is curated to support members in finding entries which share highly specific or niche interests: that is: 80s-90s anime that boast a retro "aesthetic" prowess: an art style or color palette that evoke "vibes", "atmosphere", "ambiance", or "nostalgia".

These anime are brimming with screenshotable frames and GIF-worthy animations to suit any YouTube lo-fi mixtape, playlist of beats to study to, Pinterest feeds, or cater to anyone's longing for an ethereal bygone era.

Probably wont be updated anymore there was a change today (24th May 2024) in how the scores are calculated (?) and because of that everything in this list went back to lower scores again, so I'll probably leave this as it is currently to preserve the history before they edited the system (?)

Sekai Douwa Anime Zenshuu is dated as either 1986 or 1990 on different sites, so I will keep on this list for now.
