Gyakusatsu Kikan

Tales of militaristic power, advanced weaponry, and the struggle against authoritarianism in a dystopian society, where moral dilemmas, deception, and betrayal intertwine to shape a riveting narrative. 

Both have advanced medical and technological themes and both deal with the alteration of the human conscience. 

Sci-fi about catching a terrorist, with great action scenes interspersed with large amounts of quiet philosophical dialogue. They involve biotechnology and are somewhat reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid games. They also have an excellent English dub. 

Both are superb adult mystery thrillers with a dash of sci-fi thrown in. Genocidal Organ's sci fi elements are probably more prevalent and more relevant to the plot than in Hero Mask but both share a similar mood/atmosphere where the characters (belonging to the military in G. O. and the Police in the case of Hero Mask) have to unravel a mystery. Both also have a healthy dose of kickass action so if you liked one I'm sure you'll enjoy the other 

cyberpunk series that tackle similar sociopolitical and philosophical issues. the protagonist is a soldier with cybernetically enhanced body. they reflect on different sides of their own existence in the era when physical difference between man and machine, free will and pre programmed behavior, has become vague.  

Similar moral themes and messages, main antagonist makes you think and isn't yet another comic book villain stereotype, grounded in reality with constant reminders of the unfairness of life. They share all of that. And you're likely to get something out of Genocidal Organ, even if it is flawed. An open mind is key. 

- CGI heavy: much smoother and slicker in Gyakusatsu Kikan, MMD level blockiness in Ajin - Broody, dark atmosphere: because who needs colour when you have E D G E. - Edgy af: gore, blood, death, suffering, the usual. - Cold, logical, emotionless, ultra-super-duper-extra intelligent protag: to get you feel hot under that fedora. - Very nice animation: far more consistent and nicer in Gyakusatsu Kikan. Great fight scenes in Ajin too but being a TV series, they were obviously more time/budget restricted. - Philosophising: if we talk enough about the nature of morality they won't see the glaring plot holes right? That said, if you did enjoy one, give the other a try.  read more 

When it was announced that Shukou Murase would be directing the Hathaway movie, my first thoughts were "he's the right person for the job". Both are sci-fi political thrillers based on critically-acclaimed novels full of espionage, deception and graphic displays of how terrorism and combat destroy human lives and the surrounding environment. If you want to see more of the Hathaway director's style, Genocidal Organ is the first movie you should check out; or vice-versa. Genocidal Organ follows the agent Clavis Shepherd's mission to track down John Paul. Wherever John Paul goes, genocide follows. Gundam Hathaway's main character Hathaway secretly "leads" a terrorist group but forms a fateful bond with Kenneth, who is unknowingly, the Federation commander tasked with taking his terrorist alter ego down. Both protagonists interact with and explore the very realistically detailed cities that make up the settings pf the movies (Davao in Gundam Hathaway, Eastern Europe and other places in Genocidal Organ). Furthermore, the combat scenes in both movies show extreme collateral damage and graphic displays of blood. read more 

So deep. So edgy. Wow. Very nice visuals with a good solid dose of trying to present philosophical ideas in the smuggest way possible. The writing is positively oozing with self-satisfaction. Everything is F is a murder mystery, and Genocidal Organ is a military adventure thriller but they both have a very similar feel to them despite the differences in setting and plot. Being the more active of the two, the animation is much more impressive in Genocidal Organ, but the design and art sense is more interesting and refreshing in F.  

Written by the same person so inevitably many stylistic similarities in the writing, but also: - Very similar themes around thought and language. Soul, conscience, consciousness, morality, the power of words, etc. Equally vapid and self-congratulatory, but that's just me talking. - Amazing animation and attention to detail. Both historical detail in Shisha no Teitoku, and the near-future technology in Genocidal Organ. - Large variety of real world locations show in substantial detail. - One single femme fatale character because any more will feel off-putting to the neckbeard fedora crowd the two films are aimed at. - Very nice background art.
