Both shows are about cute young girls who start from the bottom of the idol world and try to climb their way up. There are some similar archetypes such as the main characters have never practiced before but have some talent at being idols, and both shows have an elegant and mysterious popular idol that the newcomers are aiming to reach.

Not exactly an idol anime (it's in the magical girl genre), but one of the girls is an idol and there are several episodes focusing on that! Also, the endings have the Cures on stage dancing and singing. Like Pri Para, it focuses on friendship and the importance of teamwork and trust!

These 2 anime are both idol anime. They have fantastic music and performances. In both anime, the characters are trying to become top idol or divine idol. The 2 anime almost always have a performance per episode. They both have machines that can change the idol's clothes. Although there are a few differences such as Aikatsu Stars!'s setting is usually in a school while Pripara's setting is half school and half in Pripara.

Pripara is kinda like a little girls moe version where they want to become idols. The whole changing fashion when they sing and what not are very similar. The struggles and then forming groups, very similar at the beginning of the show.

Child like fun and girly aesthetic Both series were also made by the director, Moriwaki Makoto, making both shows have the same vibes and humor that I oh so love If it wasn't for My Melody I'm not sure if I would have given Pripara a chance (at the time I didn't like Idol anime due to love live bitterness) My Melo a show that is near and dear to my heart that helped me discover my favourite anime of all time and my waifu, Lala Manaka Watch em', they're fun, I like em'

Laala and Cyan are normal girls who want to be idols, but they can't, until one day they are taken to a world where they can become idols -And in these worlds they have legendary abilities -They both make friends there -Both face various challenges -The difference is that in Show By Rock they form a band and have fights and in Pripara they form teams and have no fights

Both shows have cute girls that, for a turn of events, "transorm" into a different kind of idol. They both rely a lot in comedy, sometimes taking it to an absurd level, in a good way. Just remember that PriPara is more innocent while Zombieland is R-17. As a plus, Zombieland's Manager really looks like PriPara's Meganii-san

Kids anime with a cute artstyle, made for little girls, extremely popular in Japan but barely known elsewhere. This recommendation is for the Precure franchise in general, not just Smile.

Both shows are about adorable idol girl units, attempting to become #1. Laala and Aine are very similar protagonists, both being very outgoing, both love making friends and helping others. Both have various idol units that compete. Both are based on arcade games with cards. Both include idol dress cards that are collected on the show and in real ife, as well as transformation sequences. Pripara is a lot more dramatic and over the top, while Aikatsu Friends is more laid back with relatable moments.

The stupid main character and his/her slightly-less-stupid friends go on many crazy adventures. Both involve talking animals. They are both funny, colorful, and very enjoyable!

super cute and lovable, a little air-headed main girl characters. both want to be popular performers. though lala wants to simply because she loves preforming and kirarin because she likes a guy(but grows to love it). and they both always have great friends supporting them.

They are both music themed, and have idols in the series. They are also aimed towards girls, except Pri Para is aimed towards younger girls, while Uta no Prince Sama is aimed towards older ones. The only difference is that in Pri Para the main character is in grade school and the main character in Uta no Prince Sama the character is in high school. To wrap this up, Pri Para is pretty much a gender-bent version of Uta no Prince Sama and vice versa.

Lilpri and Pri Para are very similar. Both stories's protagonist is a elementary students. Lala and Ringo became an idol by different reasons; for Ringo (Lilpri) she became an idol to save the FairyTale world and Lala (Pri Para) her reasons was because she couldn't refuse Mirei and either way she wanted to became an idol if it wasn't that the elementary students couldn't do Pri Para. But even though both of their reasons were different, both anime shows about kids and are able to transform for some certain reasons. Lala and Ringo are similar in some ways too like their parents open a place to  read more

Both are Idol Animes with very catchy and nice tunes. Both feature a light purple haired protagonist that grows up when she's an idol. Both feature cute stuffed animals that talk. Both are really heartwarming shows ♥ !

When I watched the first episode of High School Star Musical, my mind was just screaming PriPara, so I had to make a recommendation. Both shows use a five-person team system, Star Team for High School Star Musical, and Dream Team for PriPara. The main characters are mostly one gender, boys and girls, respectfully. They also both have Junichi Suwabe voicing one of the characters. Really good anime shows so far and if you love High school Star Musical, I can guarantee you are going to love PriPara too!

Both involve a team of three girls who want to become number one at being idols, both have a main character whose family runs a food service business, both involve singing and dancing combined with illusions and both are made by Takara Tomy.

This Wixoss is not exactly an idol anime. Have some features of idols like songs, but are no relevant in the plot. Still, I'm surprised how many things these shows have in common. Both shows feature a virtual world where girls change appeareance, go to socialize and do that world main activity (3vs3 girls duels). Wixoss have card game duels and PriPara songs competitions, but not always. MC and friends tries to get better to get higher in the rank system of these virtual worlds making friends and rivals in their way. MC have in her group someone well known in their comunity and a classmate  read more

An elementary school girl with an odango hairstyle has magical powers to change her appearance, and has two other friends who help her achieve her main goal. The main character's little sister joins them later on in the series because she idolizes the new form her sister takes.

PriPara and Popin Q both involve girls who can transform into idols. Some episodes of PriPara, as well as one of the movies, involve having to save the world of PriPara with music.
