New Interest Stack
Interest Stacks![]() ![]() While mostly known today as the character designer for My Hero Academia, Yoshihiko Umakoshi's recognition as one of anime's finest predates it by quite a lot. Getting his start as an animator at Toei Animation, Umakoshi was involved in some of Toei's biggest shoujo manga adaptations in the 90s, translating the shoujo aesthetic, with its quirks and all, onto the TV screen. This would culminate in Umakoshi's designs for Ojamajo Doremi, which sees his mastery of creating memorable characters, striking a fine balance between cute and cartoonish. ![]() ![]() As much as we love the whole "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things" and I do as well, this is where we showcase these Anime TV shows, movies, etc... when the ladies are being badasses. ![]() ![]() Check out part 1: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/5953 ![]() ![]() Anime that have a female main character that is strong. This can include: strong willed, an intellectual, physically strong, magically adept or a mix of those traits. Most of the time they are portrayed as mature and respectful. ![]() ![]() This stack is dedicated to the so-called "Ikemen Onna" or as they are better known in the West, Prince-ish girls. That is, cool androgynous female characters who look incredibly handsome and act like fairytale princes, which makes them incredibly popular with girls. Initially, such characters appeared only in shoujo anime as one of its classic moe and yuri archetypes, but subsequently ikemen onna began to appear more and more outside of female media, often playing the role of action female MC in various all-female and not so anime. ![]() ![]() A stack dedicated to "pantsu fighting", mostly all-female fighting shows that focus on highly sexualized fights between attractive female characters. This sub-genre gets its name from the overuse of pantsu shoots, especially during kicks. ![]() ![]() The female equivalent to manly anime. Basically, series that represent these same characteristics, but with a female protagonist or a primarily female cast. ![]() ![]() This interest stack only covers stuff referenced in the WataMote anime, not the manga. There may be some instances when a video game or manga is referenced, and I put the anime adaption in here instead. That is why a few of the anime listed here are newer than the WataMote anime itself. The stack also covers the OVA. ![]() ![]() At least one main female character is physically strong, preferably the protagonist. ![]() ![]() Daisuke Nishio is a Japanese animator and director. He joined Toei Doga (now Toei Animation) as animator in 1981. After doing several TV series, he was promoted to assistant director on Dr. Slump - Arale-chan in 1982. He debuted as director for Dragon Ball in 1986 and made his film debut that same year with Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenlong. Nishio also directed its sequel TV series, Dragon Ball Z, and several of its films. |
