The Tokyo Anime Awards started in 2002, but was named in 2005. The first, second and third award ceremonies were simply named 'Competition'. The award ceremonies were held at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) until 2013. In 2014, after the merger of the Tokyo International Anime Fair with the Anime Contents Expo and the formation of the AnimeJapan convention, the Tokyo Anime Awards was changed into a separate festival called Tokyo Anime Awards Festival (TAAF). The Animation Kobe Awards (アニメーション神戸賞) were given annually until 2015 by Kobe and the Organizing Committee to creators and creations. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ This stack is a collection of anime that are either set during summer or convey summer vibes (for example are set in a place next to the ocean). This list contains all movies that aren't related with any anime series. (Pre 2014) This is the kind of stuff you'll want to show to your older relatives or a friend / significant other who isn't into anime in particular but is open to new experiences. Not necessarily to hook them on anime but simply to share a good time together. What I look for the most in an anime above everything else is high-quality writing. That's not to say that manga, visual novel, and light novel adaptations are written poorly; in fact, there are some that have incredible, masterfully-crafted storylines. I have simply personally found that some of the most unforgettable series for me have been novel adaptations. I have compiled the animes that have achieved a certain quality with their story and animation and are loved by the majority, with my own short titles. If you don't have much time and are looking for an anime movie, you can check this list. Everyone knows Studio Ghibli's amazing work, but what about the other studios? Collection of films and OVAs (and one TV series) that "feel" like Ghibli films, but aren't related to the studio and aren't connected to its canon lineup. Factors considered include story beats and character designs that are often seen in Ghibli works as well as works by Ghibli staff completed for other studios. Some romantic anime which may have an unexpected or emotional scene to it that may make you want to cry or feel empty inside. Keep in mind some of these entries only have a little romantic subtext. This list includes no side stories. |
