Well, both are about young girls, who train hard to achieve their goals - become better at the sport they do. In both there is some love, 'cuz of course - the main charcters fall in love like normal teens in animes. In Ginban Kaleidoscope the sport is figure skating, in Hikari no Densetsu there's rhythmic gymnastics. Both sports are IMO quite girlish/womanish and the anime are, I think, for girls too. In both anime there is shown a really hard and difficult way to become a champion. There are sweat, blood and tears and also - really good competitors. The sport is mixed with grils' feelings -  read more

Both are cute series aimed at girls. Both have female leads, Ichigo in Aikatsu and Hikari in Hikari, who try to develop their skills in their chosen fields. For Aikatsu, that field is being an idol, and for Hikari, that field is rhythmic gymnastics. Ichigo and Hikari are shown to fail several times, or make mistakes, but they continue trying to improve regardless. Both series even feature subplots about male characters who are involved in their  read more

Classic 80's anime with well-developed characters and romance. In both you'll find the ever-present love triangle and a slice of life vibe. Also, in both series one of the main characters, which is also the most interesting of them all (Madoka in Orange Road, Mao in Hikari) is into music, and is in love with the male lead. The main difference is that Hikari is about rhythmic gymnastics, and Orange Road is about Kyosuke's powers.

Both these animes feature a young girl who wanna acheive they're dreams to be top areobatics/Gymnasims, Kaleido Star has Sora who wants to become the best Aerobatics on a magical stage, and Hikari no Densetsu features a junior high schooler named Hikari who wants to be the best Rythmic Gymnastic

Solid old school anime about arts and ambition, following young, talented girls who try to achieve their goals and make their dreams come true (Maya: to become a theater actress, Hikari: to be a great gymnast). Also, both have romance and really nice OP/ED themes.
