Marmalade Boy has two characters who have misunderstandings about love and has many love triangles and romance and though Marmalade Boy doesn't have to do with music as the main storyline however it does have it in the background with other characters. Aishite Knight like this show deals with life and love and is also a shoujo anime.

Maison Ikkoku and Aishite Knight both came out in the 1980's and deal with young adults dealing with working, romance, love triangles and trying to work to reach your dreams while having comedy as well. Maison Ikkoku doesn't have to do with music like Aishite Knight however both show focus on two leads who have opposite personalities and are unsure what to do when they are in love.

Two young people coming together to take care of a little one whose not their child. Also weird, but cool cat characters in both!

both have romance and are based on music, though in Ai Shite Night the music is rock whereas in Nodame Cantabile the music is classical

Cute girl, romance, rock band, handsome guys and good music. NANA had all that, but Ai Shite Night did it first. . .over 20 years earlier, too. It was kind of revolutionary for its time. I've been wanting to see this show for several years. It was worth the wait!

They're not very similar to each other since La Corda D'Oro doesn't really involve a romance between two people... but since Ai Shite Knight is about two guys and a girl--- and music, I think La Corda D'Oro is the closest thing to that.
