Not sure who copied who, but the settings for the mysteries in the first few story arcs of Kindaichi Shounen and the story arcs of Ayatsuri Sakon are exactly the same. The castle and being stranded in an isolated mountain - all too familiar. But both are good regardless. And the mysteries are different even though the settings are strikingly familiar.

Why did the deaths occur? Both Anime are arc based and have a Gothic art style to them. The characters are unique as well, and the music is also similar in some regards.

Agatha Christie, queen of mystery, yet one of the major two influences upon the genre, what isn't there to recommend? How about something more specific, like the time frame the two Anime occur, meaning the characters dress in similar fashion, yet the tone of the work remains there. A spiffy teen protagonist, one added in to a classic, and the other making for an earlier classic regarding the genre of young detective youth.

Dark, gothic detective series are always a lot of fun, yet add in a bit of historical context into the mix, one being from a historical time period while the other involves a lot of the historical places one might find in Japan. There are quite a few references to Japanese culture, not to mention an element of horror built into each, adding to the dark, gothic atmosphere.

Both Anime are of the detective genre with a sort of supernatural twist to them, if you are so inclined.

Both Anime's have a rather dark side to them, yet still manage to have the lightness that is needed to pull it through to be very likable. I also see Sakon carring Ukon around all the time, and Razel ends up carring around her teddy bear.

They are both mystery series, though Ayatsuri Sakon plays in it more. What drove me to recomend it more was the concept of 'puppets' that run through both shows. Also, the opening to Suteki Tantei Labryinth has some things that remind me of the closing for Ayatsuri Sakon.

Both involve mystery, one slice of life/arc based, the other built over a scattered timeline. Both deal with supernatural. (Sort of, depening on how you look at it). Both happen to also take place in a yester year, have a similar Gothic style, not to mention interesting characters.

This is probably the only non-mystery recommendation for this show but Ayatsuri Sakon had another major theme, Bunraku. This is a form of Japanese puppetry and is reference in the show often since one of the main characters is a Bunraku puppet. Nitaboh, while not a mystery anime, shares the same likeness when it comes to sharing a cultural aspect about Japan. Nitaboh was created a 5 years after Ayatsuri Sakon but both their execution and sound tracks are top notch. Nitaboh focuses on an instrument called a Shamisen, a three stringed instrument and is often used in Bunraku performances during narrative songs. Both movie and show  read more

Both are rather dark detective Anime's with a supernatural twist that makes it a little bit different then the norm.

Both are from the mystery genera, with a possible supernatural twist to them. I say possible, because whether or not Ayatsuri Sakon has that, is interly up the the veiwer, whether Ukon is a possesed puppet or not.

Both have dark stories and both happen to deal with the supernatural. Both are kind of depressing in their storylines, but I loved them both.

While both of these anime's are of different genera, both have a very simular goth vibe to them. This is rather hard to explain unless you watch it. The coloring is simular and so is the depth on the characters.

While not anything alike in plot, both shows feature mystical puppetry as their main gimmick. They both have highly stylized characters, both feature suspense, mystery, and violence, and both will likely not get the attention they deserve. They're also both an interesting mix of silly and violent, which is a fun combination.

Both are episodic series with dark themes. The main characters in both series have to deal with the worst part of humans.

Both Anime's have a rather... dark motif to them, plus a supernatural twist in them that is not always evident, or becomes less evident as one goes on.

Ukon and Kenchin look very much alike. This is due to the fact that the two manga artists supposidly worked together early on. This being said, while they are different genera, the styles of the artists are very simular.

The shows both have a rather gothic look and are mystery based. The character designs have simularities, having a detailed look, yet not going overboard with the details. The characters also have depth in the characterization. The two main characters, of the two main male characters, one is serious, one is more comedic.

Both animes have lots of mysteries. Also have likeable chracters.

They both have characters with a strong perception who unveil mysteries through reasoning and deduction. Moreover in these animes there are many traits of the traditional japanese culture.

Another "supernatural" series with an interesting lead character. Supernatural is in quotation marks because Ayatsuri Sakon usually presents mysteries with supernatural clues but always ends up being a person's evil scheme. Much like Ginko, Sakon acts like a detective to unfold very interesting mysteries.

Petshop of Horrors - Both are mystery based, supernatural and both have a simular art style.

Both have a very gothic vibe to them and a very simular design to them. If you happen to like the other genera, then this might be for you.

Both the Ayatsuri Sakon Anime and the Detective Conan movie have mystery/mysteries that suround antinquities of Japan, not to mention the history of Japan. Both are chalk full of information.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both animes contain a series of detective mysteries the characters have to solve. In Himitsu it is done through looking into a dead person's brain, in Ayatsuri Sakon the mysteries are solved by a young puppet-master using his doll for it. Both animes explore the dark corners of human souls.

Both have a rather dark theme to them and while Mahou Shoujo Tai is more fantastical, even though Ayatsuri Sakon is a mystery genera, there is a small bit of this in the anime.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
I don't wish to give away much of the plotline of the movie, but let's just say that mechanics and injunuity, much like the mechanics for puppets like Ukon, are invovled. Plus, Kito Kid and Sakon are both ventriliquists...

Both have a gothic feel to them, both deal with mystery, not to mention they have a mild psycology effect to them.
