Recommendations

I know it might seem odd to recommend these two, but hear me out: -Both are MUCH improved over their predecessors (Zexal and AGE respectively) -Both are much darker than previous entrees -Both share Japanese VAs -Both feature a return to older plot elements (Arc V takes a lot of cues from 5Ds, and IBO takes cues from AWGX, Wing, and 00)

Similarities: Both have the same card based anime. Both involves dueling in a card battle. Dissimilarities: One was more of a shoujo type of card battle, while the other one was more of a unisex card battle. In one anime the player can use multiple avatar, while in the other anime the play rely only on one avatar.

Both series are a crossovers from different series with the main male lead chasing after the female lead with a strong cast of characters.

There are quite a few characters in Yugioh Arc-V who are obviously heavily influenced by, if not complete copies of, characters from Code Geass (the most notable example being are Reiji and Shun, who are both similar to Lelouch). Also, both happen to have similar styles of animation, both have the same soundtrack composer, and the plot of the story is slightly similar (An organization lead by a charismatic leader to oppose a tyrannical organization lead by his father). There are also other motifs in both series that have in common (Raidraptor's symbol and Geass referencing the bird). Also, it's obvious that the jerkass from each  read more

The main characters in both story want to change the world by understanding (Yuya wants to make everyone smile through duels and that it is for fun and not serious whereas Setsuna want to promote understanding through the use of his Gundam).

=Just like Madoka Magica is a deconstruction of a magical girl genre, Yugioh Arc-V like Yugioh GX is a deconstruction of the card game genre. -Both are anime that are intentionally made to appear innocent and cliche on the surface to draw in unsuspecting viewers. Once they have your attention, however, they show their true colors. -Great animation, music, and character designs -Both feature casualties that are very important to the plot and the psychological side of the main character and are similar as well. -Both shows deal with themes such as the nature of ideals in similar ways -The deepness of the story, and the way the Main  read more

Both shows are reconstruction on deconstructed previous series. They also take place in a city and both the rival characters have daddy issues to deal with.

Both series have a lot in common- -Deconstruction and Reconstruction throughout the story -Main characters want to achieve peace (Yuya with cards and Setsuna with Gundam) -Group of fighters fighting against an unknown force who oppresses freedom -Twists and Asspulls occur out of nowhere

Both shows are dark and mysterious in such manner. I can't help but compare Shun to Hei as both characters fight to search for their sisters with supernatural elements. Both setting have a supernatural phenomenon that have yet to be explained. Stargazing element is in both shows but DKTB emphasizes on it more than Arc V.

Both series are a crossovers from different series with the main male lead chasing after the female lead with a strong cast of characters. Also the XYZ Dimension arc and the Tokyo arc are identical in terms of setting and plot.

R2 and Arc-V are very similar in tone: they place priority on entertainment and wild aesthetics. Simultaneously both darker and odder than the previous installments of the franchises, the two shows present a wide variety of characters and are always trying to outdo themselves: every episode must be more flashy, more extreme, just plain MORE than the last one. They're fun to watch just to see what kinds of crazy stunts the characters will perform or what kind of didn't-see-that-coming plot twists will happen next. Recommended to those who just want to sit down and be taken on a colorful, crazy ride.

Schools fight each other in both stories in a competition to see who is the best. One of the main characters Yugioh Arc V has a sister complex similar to that of Tatsuya and is exceptionally skilled and intelligent.

I know this is an unlikely recommendation, but more of a comparison, considering how much different these two series, but here's the reasons for the recommendation: -both main characters are placed in a setting at the start of the series where war in their world was either nonexistent or has ended. -both main characters have had relatively dark origins or upbringings; in Yuya's case, it involved his past incarnation, while for Violet, it involved her current life...in both of their respective origins, both were highly feared by their enemies/prey -Violet and Reira (a support character in Arc V) are not only voiced by the same seiyu, but also  read more

Both focus on a marketing toy for their respective company 1. They both have a main character who looks like a bootleg taken from the other. 2. The plot is somewhat Identical to the other 3. Character Develpotment focusing of the both sides 4. The final boss is a septent-dragon look-a-like

I know it might seem odd to recommend these two, but hear me out: -Both are low poing starting but get better over ( Arc-V Synchro Dimension and Vrains episode 47 onwards) -Both are MUCH improved over their predecessors (Zexal and GX respectively) -Both are much darker than previous entrees -Both share are 2.0 of thier predecessors ( GX and 5D's) -Both feature a return to older plot mechanic (Arc V takes a lot of cues from 5Ds, and Vrains takes cues from Dm to Arc-V) -Both share an old extra deck mechanic and return old ones (Arc-V did bring back 4 eras, and Vrains brough back  read more

Both have a plot about a post-war zone finally Both have a MC who goes beserk and grows to you in time ( Zero Two and Yuya Sakaki) Both have a character named Futoshi (SHIVER KID) XD In the dubbed version both have a guy named Matt Shipman performing for both shows. Let's take Shay/Shun Kurosaki and 016

Dumb fun that keeps you entertained like no other series. Both shows get start off with a and with cliffhanger that foreshadows later events.

Both series have the same Director. Both shows present a cast of lovable characters with them feeling alive and understanding the reality of the world. Both shows feel true to thier goals, but Arc-V is much more realistic than 5D's. Both shows are great for anyone looking for that don't act like morons and go overtop. They both share Synchro summoning and even coexited. They even start off pretty great and have really memorable scenes and don't go treat the viewers like jerks.

1. Multiple characters from different worlds converge into one spot and engage in conflict before finally recognizing the real threat. 2. What was relatively a peaceful life for one of the main characters is shattered by the turn of events within the respective series. 3. Both have those particular characters many people would like (ex. Magane and Yuri; Rui and Yugo, Blitz and Kurosaki). 4. The chief main character is actually the main villain (or at least part of), and their demise is more of a mental or psychological approach to where a character closely associated to them reached out to them, assisting in their redemption one way  read more

(this recomandation is regarding all Yu-gi-oh series prior to yu-gi-oh Vrains) These 2 anime are drawn in a simular style, magic has much importance in both series although they like to hide their use of magic by using clever tech or history. *spoiler warning* In both series the main protagonist has something destined to them which gives them a conciderable adventage over other people in their respected universes.

Beyblade and Arc-V are very similar in tone: they both have four creatures who are the main focus for the show (Arc-v is dimension dragon, beyblade is the sacred bit beast) both share woldbuilding, both show reality and have thier good and darker moments. one series is a card game ther other is spining tops. both have a mc who wields a dragon.

Fate of the world hangs in the balance of children's games. Both focus on a Shonnen MC. Both are somewhat the same during the final boss of an arc (Atem vs Marik) and (Zarc vs Lancers. Both are really getitng you into the game.

Both Naruto and Yuya want to bring peace as wide eyed idealists who believe talking can get rid of conflict through and through. These series deconstruct the themes that set the bar to a whole new level.

Both classic kids anime, both have competitive battles with monsters meet inanimate objects (cards/spinning tops). Both feature many tournaments with lots of lovable recurring characters who compete in these tournaments.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
These are both children's anime from wider classic franchises (Yugioh & Beyblade). Both are later generations and so although not as popular as their respective first generations, both are considered fan favourites amongst the core franchise fans. Both feature a big and important tournament that the main characters all compete in, before of course eventually being pulled into a more pressing larger than life battle against dark forces.

Both kids monster anime. Both from larger multi media franchises. Both have intelligent monsters capable of communication. Both have their human characters battle alongside their respective monsters.

Is not only simple cards games that everyone nows, but they get this "sport" to a next level, the connection of the card game with the "reality", have a more importance on the interaction with the environment, then just some cards become stronger about the place setted.

Both lighthearted "Monster Battler" kids anime! Both have similar tones and morality, getting higher stakes and more serious towards the latter half of the series.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
Both children's anime that target the exact same demographic. Both shows have darker themes and geared more toward early/late teens than for younger audiences. Both have monsters that our heroes use to battle each other, the monsters are both sealed in objects such as cards & beys.

The main characters are extremely similar, and the series have a similar feeling to eachother. Every time I watch an episode of one I am reminded strongly of the other.

Definitely very similar. Yeah it's about saving the world, but there's always time for fun, more light-hearted, understanding each other, and showing togetherness :))) enemies are defeated but you beat them for a good cause !!!!

-Inter-dimensional travel. -Monsters. -Battles. -Kid friendly content. -Young heroes. -Plenty of varied and cool monster designs. Both of these shows have all of the above and appeal to a similar audience.

Both are themed around games that have a huge amount of impact on the real world. Also, magic revolves around the main characters (Shiroe is an enchanter, and Yuya is a magician).

Both Yu-Gi-Oh! And PreCure are large, long running anime franchises whose number 1 goal is to sell toys. Both reboot themselves after each series ends with a new one. The thing about these two though, they pay some type of HEAVY homage to the series that came before them. Not sure what they’re called in PreCure as I am fairly new to the franchise, but in Arc-V they’re known as Legacy Characters. Basically, characters from previous series make appearances and interact alongside the regular cast. They do it differently though. Hug tto has the previous MAIN characters show up but they don’t stay very long,  read more

Both shonen shows revolve around an idealistic teenager who stumbled upon a supernatural source of power (Ichigo for Bankai and Yuya for Odd Eyes) involving a girl important (Rukia and Yuzu) guided by a mysterious mentor known for his intellectual prowess and shady morals (Urahara and Reiji). A conflict involving multiple dimensions gets caught up in the process while at the same time not as genuine as it is as the story rolls on. These shows are orchestrated by an all time greats (Shiro Sagisu for Bleach and Kotaro Nakagawa for Yugioh Arc V).

Yugioh Arc V and Gun x Sword involve a story of a mysterious object (Odd Eyes and Dann) that would serve as a key to unravel the mystery later in the storyline while the protags who are the owner climb their way to meet unlikely allies and strong enemies along the way whose background shows more than what we know of. Shun Kurosaki's vengeance against Academia reminds me of how Van wants to get his towards The Claw. Kotaro Nakagawa composed both shows with the only difference is that Gun X Sword is mecha themed show and Yugioh Arc V is a card game themed  read more

Arc V and Tamers have a lot of deconstruction going through in them making it not a kids show at all. Takato and Yuya have emotional struggle to deal with during the progress. I can't help but compare Guilmon to Odd Eyes.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V's 2nd season heavily resembles s.CRY.ed but at the same time the whole plot involving the Lancers and the Resistance fighting against Academia resembles how Kazuma and his local renegade group overthrowing Holy. As the story rolls on does plot twists unravel the mysteries that began the plot in the first pace making it seem like there is a lot more involved than meets the eye. Protags in both shows are weak but get stronger as they chase after their rivals who are considered powerful than them. Both shows are composed by Kotoro Nakagawa and were aired in TV Tokyo.

Both Yugioh Arc-V like 5Ds and RahXephon are reconstructions of specific things - Arc-V is a reconstruction of the Yugioh anime series (which had been deconstructed throughout the course of the series), and RahXephon is a reconstruction of the Mecha genre (which had been deconstructed in Neon Genesis Evangelion). Also, I can't help but compare Yuya Sakaki with Ayato Kamina (specifically role-wise and personality).
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both series are deconstructions of something - Arc-V like GX is a deconstruction of the Yugioh anime, whereas NGE is a deconstruction of the mecha genre. Both series have the main character undergo a very emotional struggle and has daddy issues - additionally, there is also reconstruction followed up by deconstruction.
