Well both are nostalgic anime from childhood, and both are still "old school" (before years 2000) Both are "Majokko" types: having a female heroine which uses her magical power to transform into an adult version of, possibly, herself. Besides the fact that the transformed adult versions of both main characters (Lala and Emi) are quite similar even by look, both are singers, quite famous ones, and very much appreciated with lots of fans. Yet they share all the same genres: Comedy, Magic, Shoujo. I think that if you like the Majokko genre, you should give a try to both of them, as they both worth it :3

Both are done in the same style and adhere to the magical girl genre

Both are super cute Studio Pierrot Magical Girl series from the 80's featuring heroines who are given the ability to transform into an older version of themselves and end up having fun and cute adventures. Emi becomes a magician, Mami becomes an idol.
