Ashita no Joe Pilots

Both are special episodes from anime series that are about boxing. Both of these anime have an old boxing coach who finds a talented young delinquent and turns him into a professional boxer. Takamura and Joe also share some characteristics: they both are brash, loudmouthed delinquents who are very strong and have a natural talent for boxing. Both of these anime show their early steps into the boxing world, their initial training and their early matches. 

The events of both anime happen in post-WWII Japan, focusing on the lives of juvenile delinquents in a reformatory. Both anime have brash, energetic and strong-willed main characters, who start training to become pro-boxers, while dreaming of a better future.
