A similar story follows a young girl trying to adapt to her new life with her aunt.

The two protagonists are two little girls who have lost their father and are dealing with significant changes in their lives.

The protagonists in these two series are quite different in appearance and character, but their cirumstances are similar. Both are about a girl that is being transferred from their parent into the household of an older family member. Emily's aunt Elisabeth Murray and Ohana's grandmother Sui Shijima look similar (grey haired, slender) and share some character traits (strict, serious). The protagonists are integrated in the daily lives of the family businesses in which they live now. They get to know the people in their new environment, and make friends. The changes that are brought upon the protagonists trigger some changes regarding their behaviour, views and goals.  read more

Both of them are adopted into another family and Anne and Emily's behavior are similar. Story has too many resemblances such as aunt Elizebeth's and Merilla's concern toward Emily and Anne, respectively. Even Matthew and Emily's uncle's behavior are similar.

Emily and Pollyanna are both young girls who move in with their mother's side of the family aunt after their father suddenly dies. Both of their aunts at first only take the girl in because of 'duty' and are strict and old-fashioned. That's how both of the girls start their new orphan lives as they go through hardships, make friends and grow up. Though Emily and Pollyanna are very different in personality, the set up of these two series is nearly exactly the same and they're slower-paced slice of life series that deal with personal growth and put their focus on character development.
