Recommendations

A loose recommendation as both are magical girls with a space theme, including aliens and a damaged space ship.

"Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!" / "Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE!" and "Wish Upon the Pleiades" / "Houkago no Pleiades" are shows involving a cute alien creature giving five humans special abilities in order to achieve something. The two series are both centred around a slice-of-life setting with an antagonist that is very obviously a friend of the protagonist.

-Involvement of the main character wished for changing -Granted wish and has the powers to transform into magical girls -Involving magical girls, a group of friends finds out that they were also the chosen one and invited them to join them -Both has a mission in order to fulfill, that's why they were granted the power -Both involve lots of romance -Both involve a very tight friendship and a lot of happiness -Houkago no Pleiads is 13 episodes as for Shugo Chara is 3 seasons long -Both are very happy yet sad animes at times, but Houkago is more deep and sad -If you like one, you'd like the other -Both  read more

There are many blatant and obvious features in both anime series that make them increasingly similar to one another. For the most part, both are based off the mahou shoujou series and feature their magical powers. Although minor, both also have 5 people in the protagonist's group which makes comparison much easier between the two. Aiming for a goal, both groups' themes are based off friendship and their power extracted from them. The art style and music from both are equally beautiful and pretty though it may differ from time to time. Ultimately, Houkago no Pleiades and Mahou Shoujou Madoka Magica are similar in several  read more

-Centers around a group of middle school girls -A kawaii E.T. comes to earth and helps bring the girls closer to each other -Observatory is a key location -Memory loss is a major theme -Timeline shift/time travel SnM is alot more overdramatic, while HnP has a more Mahou Shoujo feeling

Both are GAINAX's productions about BISHOUJO, PARTNERSHIP, ROMANCE and SPACE. DIFFERENCES: Gunbuster - sci-fi, mecha, echhi Houkago no Pleiades - magic, Maho Shoujo, moe It seems that they are totally different types of anime, but both of them have a fantastic imagination for space and the theory of relativity. So in some ways, Houkago no Pleiades shows respect for Gunbuster.

Both titles are toying with the concept that there are various timelines of the present, which converge at points in the past. By changing the events at the junction points in the past, the present can be changed to another timeline. (For more elaborate explanations of the "many-worlds interpretation", you may check out the comic Murasakiiro no Qualia)

- Both are magical girl shows with a pink lead and colour-themed teammates - Both have protagonists dealing with feelings on inferiority, worries about the future, and self-improvement - Both feature time travel, to varying degrees - Both feature romance, though Hugtto is a much more subtle / background plot compared to Wish Upon the Pleiades.

A slime grants magical power to a group of friends in return for some help to achieve its goal. Although Ojamajo Doremi is not as short but the ending of both shows are pretty similar

Both have a character who’s motivation is centered around reconnecting with a friend who seems to have forgotten her. Both shows have several episodes that focus on supporting characters, as well as their emotional struggles and growth. Some characters from both series even parallel each other in terms of their story arc. Both shows refuse to hold your hand when it comes to worldbuilding, and instead assume you know the trappings of the magical girl genre, which I personally find very refreshing. Both shows comment on the underlying anxiety of the future, whether that’s losing your potential or moving on from past memories. There’s a lot of heartbreak  read more

Space and time, multiple universes, fragments/pieces, memory-loss, magic, indirect romance, kawaiiness, GP-rated moeness, CGDCT, if plot elements like these are what you're looking for, then look no further with Houkago no Pleiades and Kobato. Both of these anime has space and time concepts, as Houkago no Pleiades deals with multiverses in quite the same way as CLAMP's universe for Kobato-- space and time with magic, if I may add. Much more, both of these seem to be looking for "fragments" that looks like sugar candies, with the former on engine fragments, and the latter on konpeito. Still not satisfied? Then both main characters also deal with  read more

-Main character enters into a new world that they never knew existed (Angel Beats: world of those who died and cannot rest peacefully and Houkago: the existence of alien, space, and magic) -Meet irreplaceable/memorable friends and shows you their pasts, their wish, and why they ended up in the position where they are now -Both involves having to do a mission/a purpose -Both the animes romance are very similar to each other -Basically, both animes are very similar, but Angel Beats is more dramatic and dark. As for Houkago, it's more happy, yet depressing. It's not as deep as Angel Beats, but both are very great. -If you like Angel  read more

-Involving magical girls -Girl finds a cute being that requests for help by capturing these certain stuff in order to have their wishes granted -Girl is given magical powers and has friends who help too/ companions -Of course, there are also enemies -Is very pure as in nothing dark or perverted etc. -Involves VERY cute romance -Of course, both main characters are clutz/clumsy airheads -Houkago no Pleiades is more sad, but if you like one, you'd love the other

The majesty of space as seen from the perspective of present-day teenage girls. Both shows are optimistic, emphasize cooperation over competition, and feature high-stakes tension without villains.

"Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C³" / "Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu" and "Wish Upon the Pleiades" / "Houkago no Pleiades" are both slice-of-life series by Studio Gainax surrounding a group of young girls. The protagonists of the two shows have in common of being the newcomer to the group.

Both anime are obvious of the Mahou Shoujo category. The characters of each are granted Magical Powers from an alien in order to collect items scattered about the earth from an accident to their spaceship. The main MC's of both shows are quite similar in the sense of being passionate about others and their self confidence in their abilities. They cross paths with an antagonist that also wants to collect the items for their own purpose. Instead of battling with them out of spite, they begin to understand their motive, gaining sympathy and compassion for them, and intend to save these individuals from their situation.  read more
