Remakes of classics and made by same creator, Leiji Matsumoto. One ship sails across universe fight entire fleet of enemies army in order to find salvation and save motherearth. Main character is new recruits that given trust by the charismatic captain. Shows many fascinating space battle which followed by good animation and background music. Capt. Harlock is fully made by top-rated CGI while Yamato 2199's CGI is nicely blended with 2D animation.

Both are recent remakes of older classic anime. They both focus on a manly protagonist, whose goal is to bring peace and freedom.

Both are epic space operas that focus on a large scale war between two opposing factions with different ideals. They also have idealistic main characters who share similar goals. Both anime have an overall similar atmosphere, although their animation styles differ.

Okay. This is my first recommendation. For those who admire the graphic like CGI. This is suitable for your taste. The plot is about captain herlock trying to earth. If you want to know the ending. you should watched it. I'm not going to spoil it.

Both anime have multiple battles in space, in Heroic Age the numbers are far bigger and thus the battles longer. Also everything is done in order to save earth.

Pirates pirates pirates! Both share the love for pirates, only in Mouretsu you get more female (younger) ones.

Though they may not share similar stories, both movies showed great animation/cgi. So if you're looking for eye candy or whatnot you may like Captain Harlock.

Both have really amazing CGI. Only, Captain Harlock deals with pirates and not zombie. But still, its worth watching.

In a realm where humanity strives for salvation, their only hope is to undertake battles in space in order to advance their objectives. Suspense and plot twists frequent in the 3D CGI thriller, the newly recruited main character never ceases to surprise his peers with his abilities. Little does mankind know that this rookie may be the key to the liberation they need.
