New Interest Stack
Interest Stacks![]() ![]() This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). ![]() ![]() Decided to make a stack for the OVAs and movies you used to be able to find on Blockbuster shelves or on late-night TV anime blocks right before infomercials or softcore porn. Behold, hyper-violence, bad animation, paranoid politics, incomprehensible writing, awful dubs, gratuitous nudity, and that special something that makes bad things great sometimes. ![]() ![]() I remember going to the video store, browsing the shelves, and picking out a movie based on the box art alone. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. ![]() ![]() Organized by the Japan Anime Festival Executive Committee, their members being the editors-in-chief of five major anime magazines, which were Animedia, The Anime, My Anime, Monthly OUT, and Animeck (Animage did not participate, as they had own Anime Awards). The main choices were decided by industry insiders and artistic creators (people like Osamu Tezuka), with the Fan Awards being self-explanatory. ![]() ![]() This interest stack contains mostly obscure OVAs from the 80s/90s (but there are some newer and/or more famous ones as well) that fall into the "so bad it's good" category. These anime are REALLY bad but they still can provide a good laugh with your friends while watching some of the most crappy/WTF/cringe/weird/poorly written/poorly animated/poorly drawn anime. ![]() ![]() from here: ![]() ![]() Every cinema or direct to video anime film that came out in 1983. ![]() ![]() Buzz was a Spanish subscription television channel produced by AMC Networks International Iberia. Its programming focused on horror content, both in current series and movies. ![]() ![]() List of Anime Movies with Long Duration (2 Hour and More) ![]() ![]() Rintaro is the pseudonym of Shigeyuki Hayashi, a well-known director of anime. He works frequently with the animation studio Madhouse (which he co-founded), though he is a freelance director not employed directly by any one studio. He began working in the animation industry—at age 17—as an in-between animator on the 1958 film Hakujaden. His works have won and been nominated for multiple awards, including a nomination for Best Film (Metropolis) at the 2001 Festival de Cine de Sitges. |
