It's totally the same. Boy finds a merman and leaves with him. Maybe a little bit less shounen ai, but okay.

This OVA is also shounen ai! It has a male protagonist who, similar to Sajou Rihito, is rather lonesome and troubled, especially after losing his beloved grandfather. In his state of grief, he goes to the ocean and “falls” into the water just as he remembers that he can’t swim. Miraculously, he is saved by a beautiful merman, who moves in with the boy and continues to save him in all sorts of ways… What this OVA and Doukyuusei especially have in common are their unique, artistic animation styles, and their utterly gripping and moving developments in both romance and drama.

3-gatsu no Lion and Kono Danshi heavily revolves around the theme of loneliness and opening yourself up to others. Both shows are mellow and contain beautiful artwork. While there may not be any shogi played in Kono Danshi, the main characters still want to rise to the top of each's respective life.

Both animes have quirky characters and are great with comedic timing. There are a lot of unispected situations that get explained on a unexpected ways

I personally enjoyed both these animes, they are both about boy loves/relationships and although This boy caught a Merman is deeper than Koisuru Shirokuma (a short anime that will take 6 - 7 mins to watch), they are both enjoyable and fun to see the main character's relationships grow & develop.

Similarities -Yaoi -Both are well made -The art is really pretty in both -Both are enjoyable to watch Differences -Completely different storylines -Sekaiichi is a series, while the other is an OVA

As tumblr would best say: if you like gay fishing and waterproof homos, these are the shows for you. But seriously. The art styles look like they waltzed out of an art school's senior thesis. And the story tells a tell of what it means to have a family no matter how small or how different (alien) you are.

Both are short and beautiful Shonen Ai stories that feature rather interesting style of animation.
