“Beast ears”. You’ve seen them. Girls with cat ears and tail. Or maybe fox. Or maybe another animal.

Please not that this does not include what I consider “furries” (characters covered in fur, scales, or feathers who have a mostly animal appearance). There aren’t any “furry” anime right now which have a notable amount of yuri content.

If you have seen any of these shows and liked them, that’s fine. There are anime a lot of people hated that I still like, too. This is just reflecting MAL’s average score.

I know there are niches for “purposefully watching bad media to laugh at it” and for trying to find gold in media most people don’t like, so I am including this for those audiences. Who knows? Maybe you’ll disagree with the common opinion.

Here are things to keep in mind:
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have fanservice
-being written by a woman doesn’t mean it won’t have elements which could be considered offensive
-the primary staff of most anime is men, and most anime is directed by men
-the sexual orientation of manga artists, light novel authors, and anime staff are generally kept private
-“who exactly wrote this?” isn’t always an easy question to answer. Let’s say there was a card game, then a manga, then an anime. Who would you credit, in that case?

In my opinion, people make assumptions about anime written by men and anime written by women, and those assumptions are only sometimes true. I do find that anime written by men and anime written by women feel “different”, but not in the ways that people tend to expect it when asking for shows written by women.
