New Interest Stack
Interest Stacks![]() ![]() "Elitist" has been a very generic and broad term to generalise many types of not-so-mainstream or "deep" anime, so this list is very diverse and it's criteria are not always clear cut and objective. Nonetheless I try to provide a proper explanation for why each entry is included. Generally speaking these are shows that fit one OR more of these adjectives: Experimental, Avant-Garde, Psychological, Philosophical, Obscure, Classic, Critically Acclaimed, Artsy, Old, etc... ![]() ![]() They might think they're cartoons, but they are actually anime! Perfect for showing your parents that you like the same things they do. ![]() ![]() Avoided a bit of the really obvious ones (The Big 3 and Death Note) and some that were really similar to something already present on this list. These are anime I recommend you not miss out on in your lifetime. ![]() ![]() [Please let me know of any errors] ![]() ![]() Collection of series that feature, provide commentary and explore themes heavily related to Cultural, Political, Religious, Sociological or Economic fields and the impact that those fields and processes that they contain have to the general population. ![]() ![]() The top 50 of the top 100 anime gathered from TV Asahi's Japan-wide survey, conducted with multiple age-groups, into the best animated series. ![]() ![]() Series that utilize philosophical approach when it comes to their portrayal of society. Usually featuring "outsider" perspective as a main vehicle for the exploration of the "society" and the philosophy. ![]() ![]() Anime in the "Leijiverse", mostly adapted from Leiji Matsumoto's mangas. Ranked from newest to oldest ![]() ![]() In 2012, The Asahi Shimbun announced the 104 TV anime that they considered to be the most representative and memorable of all TV anime between 1963 and 2012. It's a good starting point for exploring general TV anime history, and the shows are all worth giving a shot. The list was not ranked, and ordered by release date. ![]() ![]() They are not all obviously, I put the ones that I think are the most interesting, known for those who want to add anime to their list. ![]() ![]() 50 different series from 50 different years. While most of these are my favorites from year to year, I have included some I thought should get a bit more of a spotlight on. It actually took me a lot longer to put this list together than I thought it would, some years had a lot of good picks and it was hard to pick out either a favorite or one that should be highlighted. ![]() ![]() A compilation of anime that began airing during the month of September. |
