Interest StacksAfter watching just about all of the OVAs released in the 1980s, I rated (or plan to rate) all of these OVAs a 7 or above and consider them to be the best of the bunch. The new anime release format that appeared in the mid-80s brought new opportunities for studios and various works began to be released on videotapes. Some of them were frankly terrible, but some became classics with a recognizable style and aesthetics. I bring to your attention works worth viewing. Titles in which the characters are piloting flying devices (planes, brooms, etc) within the atmosphere. The characters being pilots is relevant to the plot, and during a big part of screen time there is action in the air. Only series that are ranked below 2,000 in 'Popularity' on MAL. Shows where there are characters that pilot airplanes, shows that just have some airplanes appear on them don't count. Welcome to my Obscurity series, which I hope will help you delve deeper into the depths of anime, particularly the classics. Japan has waged countless wars within its territories and beyond her shores for thousands of years now, and in anime we can see some of the perspectives, interpretations and depictions the Japanese people have developed with regards to this topic. These are the best works anime can offer. Organized by the Japan Anime Festival Executive Committee, their members being the editors-in-chief of five major anime magazines, which were Animedia, The Anime, My Anime, Monthly OUT, and Animeck (Animage did not participate, as they had own Anime Awards). The main choices were decided by industry insiders and artistic creators (people like Osamu Tezuka), with the Fan Awards being self-explanatory. This is the second part of a collection of articles where I aim to explore the evolution of anime related music. This part of the list attempts to collect a list of most iconic performances on the "New Age" of anime music. This list is taken by the following twitter account: @JoseLuisUsme A collection of anime released from January 1963 to January 2000 that still have something of an appeal. For better or worse. Anime... something I'm certain we all enjoy. However, if, like myself, you enjoy mature/darker/slower narratives featuring: relatable and morally-grey characters, little to no sexualization of said characters, and the lack of 'power of friendship', you'll find that you're jaded and your finger nails bleeding from digging through incomprehensible amounts of mire. |
