The Oofuji Noburou Award (大藤信郎賞) is an animation award given at the Mainichi Film Awards. It is named after Japanese animator Noburou Oofuji. ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ Anime can be more than the same one trick pony we see time and time again... A medium for varied and complex approaches to storytelling. This list contains all movies that aren't related with any anime series. (Pre 2014) This list is dedicated to Pre-2000s anime that has a visually impactful animation, regardless of the year they release. This list consists of psychological titles, which helped me to accept inevitability and cope with alienation, as well as some other existentional fears, thereby affected my personality above all others. Anime that makes you realise a lot about the meaning of human life and death, relationships, principles and most important: "self-concept". This is the kind of stuff you'll want to show to your older relatives or a friend / significant other who isn't into anime in particular but is open to new experiences. Not necessarily to hook them on anime but simply to share a good time together. This is an early list that I made and quite frankly it's a mess, I decided to make a more comprehensive thematic series, check them out: "Elitist" has been a very generic and broad term to generalise many types of not-so-mainstream or "deep" anime, so this list is very diverse and it's criteria are not always clear cut and objective. Nonetheless I try to provide a proper explanation for why each entry is included. Generally speaking these are shows that fit one OR more of these adjectives: Experimental, Avant-Garde, Psychological, Philosophical, Obscure, Classic, Critically Acclaimed, Artsy, Old, etc... List of anime for "elitist". These anime have been considered as "deep" animations by various critics and analysts. Art house, in relation to cinema, is a genre of films that are intended to be serious artistic works rather than merely popular entertainment but the descriptor can also be applied to anime. Furthermore, avant-garde refers to innovative, experimental, radical or unorthodox concepts and techniques. This can of course also be used in reference to anime and manga. Shows/Movies of all kinds that are either meant for or can be enjoyed by an older audience. A treasure trove of excellence covering a wide range. Story-driven thrillers, well researched historical shows, brilliant world-constructions, poetic narrations, gripping thrillers, dark comedies, complex future visions, tightly packed action, avant-garde art, solid entertainment, tear-jerking dramas to light-hearted slices of lives. This is a list of anime that Quentin has either watched and liked or anime that he would most likely enjoy, based on his filmography of non-linear narratives and overall taste of foreign movies, for example. When I first started watching anime, I thought anime was basically a kind of animation with a unique art style. But now I am seeing that most anime comes with a lot of tropes, and a lot of people see these tropes as part of anime. I am not a fan of these tropes, so I am making a list of anime that I like, and I feel have a relatively low amount of tropes, at least compared to most other anime. I still haven't watched a lot of anime, for example - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. But I will add more anime as I watch them. |
