Persona 3 is better enjoyed as a game rather than an anime, but the movies do a fairly good job at representing the main cast and plot. The inspiration that Persona takes from Eva should be fairly clear in its characters and general plot structure. Both have school/social life mixed in with deep characterization and periodic action sequences. The mechs/personas used to fight enemies are intricately tied to the person using them. The themes are a bit different, but they are explored in similar ways. Evangelion focuses primarily on our desire to connect with others while Persona focuses on the inevitability of death. Psychoanalytic concepts (e.g.  read more

Both are sharing demon and angel related type of beings, have a spooky and edgy atmosphere and story and an outsider like mc getting caught up in all of the strange events and must also find out why it is happening.

I've noticed a few similarities between these two entries when I started watching Ao no Exorcist. Both involve a long battle between otherworldly monsters and a special organisation of humans made to hunt and kill them. The main cast consists almost entirely of teenagers with special powers, who are also members of each series' respective special "organisations". Additionally, each entry's protagonist wields a sword for battle and has some kind of hidden power within them that makes them really powerful. However, one key difference between the two are the forms of storytelling; Ao no Exorcist is more light-hearted and filled occasionally with comedy elements (though it sure  read more

Both tackles with very heavy philosophical theme, including dark, life and death, despair and almost no plot armor, play the persona 3 game if you want more better atmosphere

Both shows is about a group of friends, who have to overcome their fears and face their problems. Both has a melancholic feel to it. Persona 3 all movies fit this description, but especially the fourth movie (Winter of Rebirth) felt the most similar to Little Busters!: Refrain. They were the most serious ones, with heavy themes.

Are similar because: - the main characters kind of look alike - their weapons are similar - the art style is similar - give the same vibe

-Dark themes and violence but have great character development and plenty of comedy -Deals with the darker side of an adventure -Both MCs can be "show offy" and learn the consequences of not being a great leader -Fantastic fantasy/supernatural/thrillers -Have similar video game vibes (P3 having been a Playstation game and RZ dealing with starting a game over..) (First recommendation here at MAL; hope this is found useful! c:)

Both movie's have great Fantasy, supernatural, and action elements. Similar strong MC's that also have hidden potential that later on awakens. Both involve a special organization that fights to protect the human raise. The two movies have amazing art work not to mention a awesome soundtrack that makes every scene that more exciting.

Well.... its persona, but Persona 3 has a much darker feel in it, persona 4 is more colorful and light feel in it.

All of the games have separate stories that are centered around a different theme with recurring motifs and some same characters appearing, you can enjoy them in any order you want to. If you just want to watch something to prepare for P5, I'd suggest the P3 movies, they are pretty good and decent for introducing one to the series. Obviously playing the games would be ideal, as the anime can't incorporate everything in a game as big as Persona.

Persona 3 the Movie Meets "Walkman" is an alternate telling of the four piece saga that ATLUS has presented. You completely understand Minato's viewpoint from a different perspective, as he takes the name Makoto as he goes through the Sony Walkman timeline.

The battle system in Ordinal Scale kinda reminds me of P3 Movies, where they fight the "monsters" in a specified time. The main characters also have to deal with similar problems, such as "bond" and "memories". You willl find more similarities in them if you watch P3 Movies till the last part.

The first episode of Divine Gate looks pretty similar with the opening of Persona 3 Movies. - Both take place on a train when the show started. - Both have supernatural powers. - Aoto and Makoto looks pretty similar as well. They have an unique powers comparing to the others in their age. They have a sad backstory involving their parents. And then, they have a ghost-like acquintance. If you enjoyed one, you might like the others.

Devilman has had a clear influence on SMT and by extension, Persona, and this influence comes through the most in Persona 3. Apocalyptic themes and religious imagery are present here, and many parallels can be drawn between the characters of Ryou Asuka and Ryoji Mochizuki. Connections between people and what it means to be human are also explored.
