New Interest Stack
Interest StacksWhen I first started watching anime, I thought anime was basically a kind of animation with a unique art style. But now I am seeing that most anime comes with a lot of tropes, and a lot of people see these tropes as part of anime. I am not a fan of these tropes, so I am making a list of anime that I like, and I feel have a relatively low amount of tropes, at least compared to most other anime. I still haven't watched a lot of anime, for example - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. But I will add more anime as I watch them. Decided to make a stack for the OVAs and movies you used to be able to find on Blockbuster shelves or on late-night TV anime blocks right before infomercials or softcore porn. Behold, hyper-violence, bad animation, paranoid politics, incomprehensible writing, awful dubs, gratuitous nudity, and that special something that makes bad things great sometimes. Some anime OVAs dating back to this time, with not many movies included. Anime that aired in Britain on TV. Does not include streaming, home release, etc. Some air dates are included. Kick back with your choice of inebriant or lack thereof and have some fun watching action heroes battle it out with all sorts of weapons, explosives, superpowers and machines. OVAs aren't usually very long so you don't even need to commit. You don't need to think too much and don't take it so seriously. These shows are all about having a good time and maybe some laughs along the way. I remember going to the video store, browsing the shelves, and picking out a movie based on the box art alone. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. So i wanted to add here the anime i can call "realistic,semi-realistic,not weird face or boyshaped, not moe" Do you like watching trashy 80/90s OVAs and movies that are violent, stupid, and nonsensical? Well this list is for you. Some of these are pretty famous in the community like Violence Jack and M.D. Geist, but I made sure to really dumpster dive for some obscure trash for all of you garbage connoisseurs out there. What is a manly anime? It may be hard to define them at first glance. Rather than a textbook definition, it's more of a specific "vibe". You can feel when you're watching one of them. Standalone Animes Movies & OVAs from the 80s & 90s that I want to watch. Every anime aired on a defunct Ukrainian TV channel QTV (also known as КуйТБ). Assembling this list for nostalgia's sake, might try ranking it at some point. anime within the cyberpunk genre or including various cyberpunk elements. suggested to me from various sources Before the likes of Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon conquering the kids in the west, it was actually Akira that opened the door and made people realize that the cartoons coming from Japan weren't what you would expect from Disney or your TV channels. Recommended for older viewers that want an alternative to shows and movies set at Anime High School. Casts in these anime are primarily over 18 and most are intended more for adult audiences, even if they're silly or light-hearted in nature. (Big obvious exception: Dragon Ball Z.) |
