Interest Stacks  Very few stories can craft a setting that leaves a memorable impression, in fantasy fiction creators tend to fall back on safe and familiar settings which to me is always a missed opportunity in a story. These are anime that go above and beyond to envision and breathe life into unique and inspired worlds. A significant artistic effort is put into the locations, technology, vehicles, clothing, props, and architecture of these anime and have been masterfully crafted to facilitate these stories.   Anime series not so well known for their titles, some not necessarily underestimated, but easy to go unnoticed in the community.   This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious).   A list of anime that primarily feature badass women protagonists who learn, grow and hold their own. As fanservice free as possible, though mature themes are prevalent. I tried to make this list using mostly lesser-known fanservice-free anime. Most of these make the list based on having MAL ratings lower than PG-13 or having clean ratings for no sexual content or nudity on doesthedogdie.com. Some of the selections in the list do have fanservice in the original Japanese version that was omitted for the Western release.
