Interest Stacks![]() ![]() Anime Unleashed was an anime block that was broadcast on the American cable TV network G4. Anime Current is its Canadian counterpart. The block is notable for having a unique catalog of sci-fi anime including popular titles such as Serial Experiments Lain and rather obscure titles such as Betterman. In my opinion, this is one of the strangest but also coolest block of anime to air on American TVs. ![]() ![]() Shows/movies where an advanced A.I. is a main character (usually as an android) or the show focuses on the dilemma surrounding their existence. When you think about it, humanity isn't that far away from achieving it. ![]() ![]() List of anime with attractive aesthetics and story for young and old. They stand out for having a western or remarkable visual aesthetic from the rest. ![]() ![]() Kick back with your choice of inebriant or lack thereof and have some fun watching action heroes battle it out with all sorts of weapons, explosives, superpowers and machines. OVAs aren't usually very long so you don't even need to commit. You don't need to think too much and don't take it so seriously. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. ![]() ![]() In the dawn of the digital age, many creators have expressed their hopes and fears about technology and its influence on human society through science fiction anime, creating many interesting interepretations of what our future could be (or even what our present is) with regards to the ever accelerating integration of technology into our lives. ![]() ![]() ...high tech, low life ![]() ![]() From late 90s to early 2000s. Organic animation with a hint of depression, existentialism, cynicism, semi-realistic artstyle, fear/ embrace of technology after the economic bubble burst of Japan in 80s. ![]() ![]() Before the likes of Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon conquering the kids in the west, it was actually Akira that opened the door and made people realize that the cartoons coming from Japan weren't what you would expect from Disney or your TV channels. ![]() ![]() Anime from the list of cyberpunk animation and comics compiled by fan Andrew Stoker in the early 2000s. ![]() ![]() An assorted stack of anime series focusing on Human-Robot relationships and interactions. The relationships depicted may or may not be romantic in nature and can encompass philosophical themes of compassion, morality, co-existence, and violence in some cases. |
