New Interest Stack
Interest StacksAnime can be more than the same one trick pony we see time and time again... A medium for varied and complex approaches to storytelling. This is an early list that I made and quite frankly it's a mess, I decided to make a more comprehensive thematic series, check them out: The parameters for this list are as follows: Featuring little to no dialogue and/or characters and the experience is carried by the music and/or visual atmosphere. Do you want to watch anime so artsy that will either relate to the deepest part of your soul or completely confuse you? Don't have time? These are the anime for you! Anime with less than 6 episodes. Their stories are complete (you won't feel like it ended with a cliffhanger) and really enjoyable. For people who love anime but don't have too much time to watch them. The OVA market dried up as straight to video releases became a thing of the past, which is unfortunate because a lot of interesting and unique anime were released in this format. The point of the list is to feature worthwhile OVAs that are more than just fanservice or shoddy extras for TV series. Sigh, due to the explicit content warning feature, I've excluded Mezzo Forte, but it would be on here otherwise. I should also probably make room for Yukikaze at some point. A curated list of series and shorts that span no more than 15 minutes, but satisfies your entertainment all the same. Arranged in color-coordinated rows because nothing makes lists look more appealing than a uniform order, trust me. From late 90s to early 2000s. Organic animation with a hint of depression, existentialism, cynicism, semi-realistic artstyle, fear/ embrace of technology after the economic bubble burst of Japan in 80s. Standalone OVAs from 2000-2009. A selection of more linear and conventional story telling or just damn good art. Most of these are narrative shorts with Sci-Fi theme or just a futuristic setting. part 1: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/37073 Gothic art is an aesthetic movement which places heavy emphasis on an atmosphere of mystery, terror and haunting. It is commonly characterised by supernatural entities and occurrences, unsettling and macabre narratives, a preoccupation with the past, bleak and decaying landscapes, claustrophobic and oppressive atmospheres as well as heavy use of metaphors and psychological conflicts. The aim of this stack is to collect notable and defining works which incorporate the Gothic and/or elements of the genre in the medium of anime. |
