The SoulTaker: Tamashii-gari

Anime Unleashed was an anime block that was broadcast on the American cable TV network G4. Anime Current is its Canadian counterpart. The block is notable for having a unique catalog of sci-fi anime including popular titles such as Serial Experiments Lain and rather obscure titles such as Betterman. In my opinion, this is one of the strangest but also coolest block of anime to air on American TVs.

Theses are the list of shows/movies that aired on the portuguese channel known as SIC Radical. a Portuguese TV network that airs shows made for much older audience.

List of anime for "elitist". These anime have been considered as "deep" animations by various critics and analysts.

In this compilation there are animes with quite complicated stories that are not recommended for all audiences. As they are: cult, artistic, experimental, avant-garde, underrated, psychological, philosophical, unique or mind-blowing anime.

Anime made by the first generation of anime fans.

I’m coining the term Anime New Wave in reference to the French New Wave and the Japanese New Wave in film canon. Like both of these movements, the first generation of creatives to achieve any kind of mainstream success were establishing the medium themselves and were drawing inspiration from outside their art form, such as how Osamu Tezuka was inspired by the work of Fritz Lang or how Hayao Miyazaki’s adaptation of Lupin III was deeply entrenched in film noir and Golden Age Hollywood aesthetics. With the rise of an otaku culture punctuated by the first doujin anime and the development of Studio Gainax, anime began to have its ideas and themes codified into a replicable series of cinematic references. Dezaki’s beautiful use of intense lighting and postcard memories, Tomino’s frantic paneling and action set pieces, Takahata’s evocative pastoral landscapes and slow takes, the language of anime was being written one word at a time. In the late 80s we saw the rise of talented creators who speak that language as their first tongue, and the results were inimitable and immediate.

Some directors I am considering under the term include Hideaki Anno, Shinichiro Watanabe, Kunihiko Ikuhara, and Satoshi Kon, just so there’s a point of reference here. I’m trying not to include directors who are usually lumped in with others on this list but were actively working as primary creatives in the studio system in the 80s, such as Mamoru Oshii. Lastly, I’m trying to keep the list centered on the initial wave of anime created even though plenty of these creatives have gone on to work on other things, just so I don’t have it be too confusing to look at. Arbitrary, I know.

Anime that are especially eye catching visually, often in it's background art and/or general aesthetic. aka anime I find myself taking lots of screenshots of. Only one entry per series. Will be updated as I watch more stuff.

This list includes arthouse (gonna strech this term in this list) that are have multiple episodes that from one story, so compilations like Neo Tokyo or Genius Party will not be in here.
Expect TV anime series and OVAs (they usually have 3-6 episodes 20-40 minutes each).

Regarding TV anime, here you'll find more "modern" series like Kaiba, Haibane Renmeim Flip Flappers, Sonny Boy, Artiswitch which feel a bit different from 80's shows but are still very unique compared to your typical anime so I believe they qualify.

Celebrate your every halloween watching these animes...

These animes give spooky Halloween vibes. With vampires, werewolves, ghosts, aliens, yokais, spirits, dangerous murders and what not. The background stages or the scenario of the animes can be looking dark and gloomy. But sometimes they are not scary at all. In short the animes contain halloween setup

I will try to put only one Season of each animes to keep the list short. If you want to add or include some more animes related to halloween feel free to DM me but the animes must give halloween spooky vibes unlike Death note or Monster.

Anime that were dubbed in its entirety by Ocean Productions, a Canadian based dubbing group in Vancouver, Canada.

There are some rare cases like Megaman NT were dubbed but not fully and I decided to exclude those. Dragonball Z was also dubbed by Ocean Prod. at one point in time but they didn't dub episodes 68-122 (To stay ahead with Funimation's dub). Z Kai also has a full dub but that will never see the light of day so I won't include that on these lists either.

tokusatsu/henshin hero inspired anime

Original TV anime from 1996 to 2002, I characterize this era as 'post-eva' as a good number of these series contain aspects that resemble Evangelion, some were even inspired by it.

Releases which draw in meaningful ways from the named esoteric Hellenic spiritual tradition in their symbolism, themes, or both (Alchemy, Kabbalah, etc.). Most elements from the practice are fairly perennial in their implementation, and this is something up to interpretation, so I've tried to be strict without relying on explicit references.

This Interest Stack is directly inspired by Digibro's "250 Anime Recommendations". Everything listed here is directly taken from the original video.
