Interest Stacks![]() ![]() Worldbuilding - "the process of constructing a world, originally an imaginary one, sometimes associated with a fictional universe." These kinds of shows are usually set in a fantasy and/or sci-fi world, and excel at establishing & showcasing the rules/history/economy of their fictional universe. List was created through collective data from multiple websites of people's answers as to what shows are considered to have great world building. ![]() ![]() Critics & Connoisseurs was a club that was founded in 2008 and ended club activities on the 31st of 2022. ![]() ![]() Most good stories have this, so this is more like, anime that use show don't tell the a lot and do it effectively. ![]() ![]() SBS - the free to air channel with actual international content that everyone either spends 5 minutes watching or 3 hours watching, no in-between. They used to air a fair bit of anime alongside their normally scheduled programming, and you might even be able to catch a few Ghibli films every now and then today. ![]() ![]() Shows/Movies of all kinds that are either meant for or can be enjoyed by an older audience. A treasure trove of excellence covering a wide range. Story-driven thrillers, well researched historical shows, brilliant world-constructions, poetic narrations, gripping thrillers, dark comedies, complex future visions, tightly packed action, avant-garde art, solid entertainment, tear-jerking dramas to light-hearted slices of lives. ![]() ![]() Very few stories can craft a setting that leaves a memorable impression, in fantasy fiction creators tend to fall back on safe and familiar settings which to me is always a missed opportunity in a story. These are anime that go above and beyond to envision and breathe life into unique and inspired worlds. A significant artistic effort is put into the locations, technology, vehicles, clothing, props, and architecture of these anime and have been masterfully crafted to facilitate these stories. ![]() ![]() This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). ![]() ![]() Anime made by the first generation of anime fans. ![]() ![]() This is a list of non-Ghibli standalone movies - meaning they are not associated with a TV series ![]() ![]() "Atmosphere is defined as the pervading mood of a person, place, or work of art. The mastery of atmosphere in movies controls how a person feels while watching a movie, whether it be a creeping dread pulling down on the viewer or an exhilarating energy that makes the viewer feel like they can fly." ![]() ![]() This is a collection of anime that I think is important/useful, or just inspiring in terms of its animation. If you are looking to study animation or simply want to appreciate the craft, this stack is for you. ![]() ![]() Anime with the setting of the tragic world wars that occurred last centuries, Anime that are either set around in World war or are inspired by it. ![]() ![]() Organized by the Japan Anime Festival Executive Committee, their members being the editors-in-chief of five major anime magazines, which were Animedia, The Anime, My Anime, Monthly OUT, and Animeck (Animage did not participate, as they had own Anime Awards). The main choices were decided by industry insiders and artistic creators (people like Osamu Tezuka), with the Fan Awards being self-explanatory. ![]() ![]() These are films that may appeal to an otaku with an ENFJ or INFJ-type personality. |
